The beautiful Austrian Crystal that lightens the Kennedy Center concert hall.

Dream job: Window cleaner at the Elbphilharmonie

Although much of the architecture in Old Reykjavik can strike one as a bit bland, stunning creations like Harpa excite passion. A concert hall and cultural center, the appearance - inside and out - changes with the lighting. In a few words: SO COOL!

LOOKS BETTER VIEWED ON BLACK

Just a fun upload and a processing I just had to try at least once - HDR (5 images blended into one). You will not see many of this on my stream soon as I think I need a lot more time to be good at it.

Anyway, this was taken last night. I was with friends (fellow Flikrites) the entire day yesterday just shooting to our hearts' content - from gorillas to flamingos, to dragonfly to flowers to street scenes to skyscrapers.

FYI (since some have asked), we climbed up the staircases going around the exterior of the building, which rises several stories high. At one of the upper terraces, tucked behind the facade of the Hall, there is the Blue Ribbon Park, a luxuriously planted 3,500-square-foot garden which is open to the public.

Jesuitenkirche (Jesuit Church) is considered to be the most beautiful baroque church of Switzerland and it dates back to the year 1666. The 2 onion-covered towers were added more than 200 years later and Jesuitenkirche is for sure one of the most significant tourist-sights in Luzern, also for the fact that it is conveniently located close to the old city and to Kapellbruecke (Chapel Bridge).

The sculpture ‘The Musician (1970)’ by the Icelandic sculptor Ólöf Pálsdóttir outside the Harpa concert hall in Reykjavík. The statue is of a cellist playing, and is modelled on the Danish cellist Erling Blöndal Bengtsson, who played constantly for Ólöf as he sat for her.

Harpa (Icelandic for Harp) is a concert hall and conference centre in Reykjavík, Iceland. The opening concert was held on 4 May 2011. The building features a distinctive colored glass facade inspired by the basalt landscape of Iceland.

It was designed by the Danish firm Henning Larsen Architects in co-operation with Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. The structure consists of a steel framework clad with geometric shaped glass panels of different colours.

Construction started in 2007 but was halted with the start of the financial crisis. The completion of the structure was uncertain until the government decided in 2008 to fully fund the rest of the construction costs for the half-built concert hall. For several years it was the only construction project in existence in Iceland. The building was given its name on the Day of Icelandic Music on 11 December 2009, prior to which it was called Reykjavík Concert Hall and Conference Centre (Icelandic: Tónlistar- og ráðstefnuhúsið í Reykjavík). The building is the first purpose-built concert hall in Reykjavík and it was developed in consultation with artistic advisor Vladimir Ashkenazy and international consultant Jasper Parrott of HarrisonParrott. It houses the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and the offices of The Icelandic Opera.

In 2013, the building won the European Union's Mies van der Rohe award for contemporary architecture.

The glass façade of the building consists of 714 LED lights, 486 in the eastern part of the building and 228 in the western part. These lights usually display video works designed by Olafur Eliasson, and sometimes other artists

The Konzerthaus Berlin is a concert hall in Berlin, the home of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. Situated on the Gendarmenmarkt square in the central Mitte district of the city, it was originally built as a theater. It initially operated from 1818 to 1821 under the name of the Schauspielhaus Berlin, then as the Theater am Gendarmenmarkt and Komödie. It became a concert hall after the Second World War, and its name changed to its present one in 1994.

I keep returning to the Frank Gehry concert hall. It is truly a thing of beauty and fascination. I can't possibly do it justice with my shots - it has to be seen.

Germany, Hamburg, the "Elbbrücken" metro station, Elbe bridges station, near the three railway & road bridges called "Elbbrücken" leading over the River-North-Elbe. The metro station consists of two elevated tracks & platforms, opened December 2018 & connected by interlinked skywalk for the Hamburg S-Bahn commuter trains also with two tracks & platforms. The station is the terminus of the U4 line of the metro & will be a new stop for two S-Bahn, commuter trains lines. It was built to facilitate a better accessibility for the new HafenCity quarters of Hamburg from the south.

The curved arches of the futuristic glass roof with 1200 glass panes of 250 kg each & a height of up to almost 16 mtr, the station offers its passengers & visitors a lot of light, wide & many views towards the harbour, the city & the new city quarters, because being located right on the water, the station has an integrated viewing platform. The platform hall is built in a north-south orientation, thus providing the technical prerequisite for an extension of the U4 over the river on the "Kleine Grasbrook" & additional connections.

Due to problems during construction works the opening of the S-Bahn stop, originally planned together with the metro station, has been delayed by estimated 12 to 18 month. Holes for the foundation could not be drilled as planned for the apparent reason that drilling machines partly were confronted by resistance at 10 mtr below the surface. The price tag for the U-Bahn section was lower than projected, down from 178 million Euro to 145 million, including the tracks from the previous station HafenCity Universidad, the cost for the S-Bahn stop is anticipated to rise from 43 to about 60 million Euro.

Frankfurt is one of the few European cities with a large cluster of high rise building in its downtown area; in many other European cities, skyscraper construction was not well received in the past due to the historical value of existing buildings. For this reason, Frankfurt is sometimes referred to as "Mainhattan" (a portmanteau of the local Main river and Manhattan), and Chicago am Main.

The lights on this beautiful building are constantly in motion and changing colors. The odd thing about it is that depending on where you stand, there always seems to be a portion of the lights that is dark, which is why there is less than a full reflection here. No matter where I positioned myself, there was always a dark section either on the building or the reflection or both.
