In the operations center. Feels so modern. I understand why the computer building people decided to make keyboards a tad bit smaller some 10 years on.
One of those rare (for me) moments when I land on a web site and realize that I own a physical copy of one of their major design elements.
Finishing a paper, nagged by hourly popups at our institute's computers. But hey, made the deadline, so I'm happy.
Another miniature model of my own design. You can see how old the Lego bricks are... none of those new-fangled pieces here!
The keyboard's a bit stiff though.
I have a rather frustrating problem with my sound. When I turn the volume up, the slider falls back down to zero, all by itself.
I've replaced drivers to no avail. I've uninstalled so much software that my computer feels naked. The problem persists.
This is extremely frustrating.
You've got to love those moire patterns though...

My husband brought home a new computer to play with. You'd think I'd have enough with the Dell at my desk and my laptop. But I am enjoying this one as my kitchen computer. It comes in handy when I want to look up a recipe or watch a show while I'm preparing dinner. I guess you can never have too many computers.
While moving, we had to pack away the actual computer desk, so I set up this temporary...thing. Those are practice nunchaku on the table, for some reason.
A Pentium 200 Dell Optiplex. Bad on-board IDE0 controller. I think it's good otherwise. I got it at the Salvation Army for $3 and it was my FTP server for two years. Make me an offer. $0

Are you computer savvy?
This pic shows that age is not a problem as far as learning is concerned. In a poor village in China, an old man is surfing the Net using the state-of-the-art technology, the computer.
What's the moral of the story? Should one day you're down with laziness, take a good look at this old man in the picture. Tell yourself that if he can do it, so can you.
This is me with my first "computer". Clearly, a serious piece of hardware. And they worried that this thing was underpowered. I'm probably like seven or something in this picture, when my family lived in a house on a hill in Calgary. Maybe early 80s sometime.
I would also like to point out how *awesome* that outfit is I have on.
And to this day I still can't reliably get that bit of my hair to stay flat.

I've been collecting old computer equitment as a "project" for a while, but I never did anything with it. I finally to terms with the fact that I probably never would and decided I could sacrifice the space, so I threw it all out today. Some of it works, but not well.
