The close up shots of the optical cable ended up being soft due to the slow shutter speed, so I slapped a couple of the images together into this composite texture. Probably would make as nice desktop.

Why waste pixels, right? Whatever.

The Scaled Composites Model 348 WhiteKnightTwo (WK2) is a jet-powered carrier aircraft which will be used to launch the SpaceShipTwo spacecraft. It is being developed by Scaled Composites as the first stage of Tier 1b, a two-stage to suborbital-space manned launch system. WK2 is based on the successful mothership to SpaceShipOne, White Knight, which itself is based on Proteus.

Virgin Galactic has ordered two WK2s. Together WK2 and SS2 form the basis for Virgin Galactic's fleet of suborbital spaceplanes.

The first WK2 is named VMS Eve after Richard Branson's mother; it was officially unveiled on July 28, 2008, and flew for the first time on December 21, 2008. The second is expected to be named VMS Spirit of Steve Fossett after Branson's close friend Steve Fossett.

WhiteKnightTwo is roughly three times larger than White Knight, in order to perform a captive carry with the larger SpaceShipTwo spacecraft. The WK2 is similar in wingspan to a B-29 Superfortress. Despite that comparison, White Knight Two is a thoroughly modern aircraft - even the flight control cables are constructed of carbon fiber, using a new patented design.

WK2 will provide preview flights offering several seconds of weightlessness, before the actual suborbital event. It is intended to have a service ceiling of about 60,000 ft (18 km), offering a dark blue sky to passengers. This will allow tourists to practice before the real flight.

WhiteKnightTwo consists of a twin boom with two jet engines per hull.[8] One hull is an exact replica of that of SpaceShipTwo (to allow tourist training), and the other will carry cut-rate day-trippers into the stratosphere.

The design is quite different from the White Knight, both in size, use of tail, engine configuration and placement of cockpit(s). The White Knight uses two T-tails, but the WhiteKnightTwo uses two cruciform tails. Engine configuration is also very different, with engines hung underneath the wings on the WhiteKnightTwo as opposed to engines on either side of the sole cockpit on the White Knight.

This image is a composite of three photos. The background image is a photo of a wall in the Northern Liberties (north of Girard). The building shape is a mask from another photo of a dilapidated building in the same section of town. And the barbwire is from some derelict used auto lot under the El. I’ll post the source photos to Flickr sooner then later.

Composite figure of a prophet, below the waist a complete section of a figure, but above the body is largely composed of decorative blue drapery that most likely formed a hanging behind one of the donor figures rather than clothing.

Detail of the east window glazed by the royal glazier John Prudde in 1447 with some of the most luxuriant stained glass available at the time. The seven lights originally most likely contained in the upper register a now lost central group of the Trinity crowning Mary to whom the chapel was dedicated (only three radiances remain in the cusped heads) flanked by four saints, St Thomas Becket, St Alban, St Winifred and St John of Bridlington (the only complete figures remaining in situ). The lower register appears to have been a display of kneeling donor figures of the Beauchamp family, with Richard in/near the centre (his is the only figure to survive, though his head is lost and replaced by that of one of his daughters!).

The bulk of this glass was tragically lost when the chapel was attacked by Cromwellian troops in 1643 (it is possible the chapel was locked and all this was done from outside as the tombs and statuary survived undamaged). The six side windows were a complete loss below the traceries and have remained plain-glazed ever since, but the surviving figures were used to fill the large gaps left in the east window to give the patchwork display we see today.

The gorgeous Beauchamp Chapel at St Mary's, Warwick is perhaps the best preserved example of a medieval church interior in England. I have been in love with it ever since my first childhood visit, and it remains my favourite room in all England.

The chapel is rich in excellent monuments, of which the tomb of Richard Beauchamp, the chapel's founder, is the most impressive with magnificent gilt bronze sculptures, an extremely rare survival.

Equally spectacular is the delightful east window, which is filled with superb 15th century glass by John Prudde, the King's glazier. Much if it is not in situ, since Cromwell's troops wrought havoc with the glass here and the surviving figures were assembled in this window (only the outer pairs of figures in the upper row are in their original positions). The north and south windows retain original glass only in their traceries and the cusped heads of the main lights, and knowing the quality of the surviving elements makes this loss all the more grievous.

A further treasure of this chapel and a miraculous survivor of Cromwells fanatics is the statuary surrounding the east window. This unique display of almost perfectly preserved figure sculpture from the early 15th century is exquisite, and gives an answer to all those empty niches we see in so many medieval churches elsewhere in England. The medieval splendour is further echoed by the use of colour on the sculptures and vaulted ceiling, all redone in the mid 20th century but based on medieval precedents.

I had a blast this weekend with my cousin Sarah. Sarah was in town from Portland and I felt compelled to take some portraits of her. She also enjoys taking photographs so I thought this would make a great learning experience for both of us!

The Symphony Lake at the Botanic Gardens. I took 46 pictures, but used only about 30 for this composite (the file got so huge I ran out of space on the hard drive).

This is the performance space at the Gardens where they hold concerts. The orchestra performs on the stage, which is on an island surrounded by lilly pads. The audience sits on the grass in the open air.

Some days I just wanna be lost in the big city. Being surrounded by so many people gives me such a creative rush. Unfortunately, I live in Wyoming where the biggest town boasts a little over 50,000 residents. I just want to live in a bigger place so bad sometimes that I can almost grab it. This is my visual representation of that.

I really want to play with double exposure. Here are two scans of film prints, and I've layered them in Photoshop.
