In 2007 Richard and Jennifer Linder engaged Joe David with Build Construction Services to consult on their 1961 Allied home renovation. Their goal was to embrace the original bones while improving the home with inspiring colors, graphic text, ultra-clean lines and ecologically friendly choices.
The renovation began with a long list of issues including asbestos tiles, carpeting, poor wiring, no insulation popcorn ceilings and a sludge-filled pool. The improvements underway extend the kitchen over the former back patio to expand entertaining space. The laundry facilities were moved from the garage to the hall area. The master suite was opened up with a glass door leading to the private en-suite garden and large modern bathroom with cantilevered sinks, full glass shower and private toilet. The center bedroom was converted into a travel room and closet space, and the back office/guest bedroom was opened up to the back garden. The kitchen and living room have been combined for cooking and entertaining by moving the kitchen wall and replacing the entire back wall with a large expanse of glass. Designed by Natural Territory, Santosh Rao used bamboo cabinetry as a sustainable sourced hardwood.
Site architecture is currently underway under the direction of landscape architect Steve Martino and executed by Joe David, Build Construction.
The ecologically friendly home includes a 4.1kw solar panel system delivered by American Solar, recycled glass tile throughout the home, limited use of RO water system, low flush toilets, Icynene foam insulation in walls and ceiling, new foam roof and much, much more. Overall, nearly everything in the home was painstakingly replaced by project manager Joe David. The Modern Phoenix community is invited to come back when construction is complete this summer!

Completed in 1926, the Charmain House was built by Jack London's wife, Charmain. Now known as the House of Happy Walls, it serves as the museum and visitor center for the park. The Wolf House, the London's planned home, was destroyed by fire before its completion in 1913.
All of the rows are done! It's amazing how much better things come together when you actually know what you're doing.
I had to crawl under a bush to get this photo. It is a rhododendron and these three flowers (one is hidden by the right one) were growing out of the lowest part of the trunk.
Between the shrubbery the light was just perfect! The flowers are looking like they are glowing out of themselves. Well... maybe they do! :)

I have completed the hanging for Church and this is it hanging over a door at my home awaiting to be delivered to church. My EUREKA moment!!!!!!!!!
I have added a mountain to the background on the right, and appliqued the bunches of grapes made by several ladies from Church, plus leaves made also by one of the ladies. I have couched on some machine cords I made for the vine over the grapes and leaves
Gold fabric used for the lettering and the wheat catches the light lovely so I am pleased with this effect. It has all been appliqued by hand with the help of bondaweb.
I have backed the whole hanging with a heavy fabric to help it hang well and keep its shape hopefully
I am very surprised at myself on finishing a piece of work so large - hope the congregation like it : O )
Does the smiley mean the upgrade was successful? Nothing tells me that the upgrade is even complete.

Our DATAC contractors Swift Roofing have just completed this installation of a Liveroof green modular roof on a bin store at Scholar’s Court, Anerly, for Taylor Wimpey.
The store is part of a mixed housing scheme, and a green roof was chosen for its aesthetic qualities, as nearby flats overlook the area. Liveroof was the most cost effective solution, and enabled Swift Roofing to install 80m2 of green roofing in just three hours.

Hey look, a complete bike!
I received my final batch of parts in the mail (FYI don't ever use UPS to ship something from the US) so I headed down to The Good Life to do final assembly.
One old stuck bottom bracket, a couple hammer hits, some swearing and a lot of grease later it's done.
There's still a few tiny little things to finish up, most notably putting the front medallion back on and figuring out a way to attach the rear brake cable a little better.
All good things must come to an end. This bike was stolen May 6th, 2015 in Gainesville Florida.
