That's 8TB on the left, and 80 gigs on the right, about 18 years apart.
Photos (NOT handheld shots) for comparison of the Nikkor 80-400 VR to the 70-200VR with and without the TC-20EII teleconverter. I have uploaded original full size photos for various focal lengths and apertures of each lens, along with two different crops of each photo.
All photos are unedited other than cropping.
The lens, focal length, and aperture data for each photo are given in the filenames.
All photos were taken with a Nikon D200 sitting on a stable piano bench approximately 8 feet from the feather, which was taped to a wall and sticking out horizontally into the air at about the same level as the camera, and roughly perpendicular to the camera's line of sight.
Auto focus was used to focus on the middle of the narrow blue stripe just to the left (in these photos) of the dark eye.
ISO was 100.
VR was off.
Mirror lockup and the default mirror lockup timed shutter release were used to prevent camera shake.
Illumination was from an SB800 flash mounted on the camera in TTL mode.
Spot metering was used.
Size comparison with a REAL (Note: Not period) Minié ball used around the American Civil War. It's pretty big.
same view taken with Kodak's new Portra 400. Not entirely fair, Portra is a stop slower and a pro film, whereas xtra 800 is very much in the comsumer film camp. Still,, Portra really shines.

Had an idle moment and decided to do some comparison shots beween a diffuser on my Minolta 360px at 3/4 power and my Minolta ring flash.
I was pleased to see the ring flash had almost eliminated the heavy shadow.

The inspiration for this shoot came from my own stretch marks. My friend brought up the point that stretch marks are just as natural as veins are, and that they shouldn't be something that society perceives as "ugly" or "unattractive", so I decided to trace the stretch marks on my body, and compare them to the veins on my hand. I portrayed my body in a natural light, showing the way my body twisted and contorted. I wanted to show a real woman's body, not the bodies that we are shown by the media daily.

The back side of these tessellations looks like a common japanese weave type pattern. It also reminds me of escheresque framework constructions. The blue tessellation features double open (back) triangle twists (as introduced by Madonna Yoder), the yellow one standard (single) open back variants. Additionally, the yellow tessellation is folded with neon printer paper, which intensifies the backlighting effect, making it more transparent. This type of paper (i have only tested one brand so far) appears to be more durable as well, making it a good choice for tessellations.
