As good as it gets

besser geht´s nicht - mit dieser kompakten Kamera - meine ich!

Canon’s new Powershot G7 X may score the same sensor as the Sony RX100 III, but the Powershot got a better DxOMark score (71 vs 67), and has more dynamic range.

The Canon Powershot G7 X Mark II is a good update to the G7 X.

The Mark II offers improved noise performance, and excellent image quality, along with handling improvements.

The camera is also quicker, shooting at 8fps, with a good buffer size to allow for more shots before slowdown.

This time I dressed the AT027 (on the right) in the a Superman suit from Hot Toys Batman vs Superman and compared him to the original! He's taller but not as muscular! This body is closer to the Man Of Steel figure that Hot Toys released a few years ago!

Here’s some comparison photos of the new Curvy MTM body next to some other dolls. She’s shorter than the Collectors Curvy body and is closer to the Fashionista Curvy but her limbs are slightly thicker.

She has almost the same poseability as an Original MTM body but due to her thicker body type it ALMOST does the same things anyway. Her ankles are as floppy as original MTM so bleh.

Surprisingly her wrists are compatible with Original MTM, which means it’s compatible with older jointed Barbie dolls with vinyl arms AND DC Super Hero Girl hands.

Her ankles though are completely different so if you were hoping to give her smaller feet you’ll need to mod the doll a lot.

Her skin tone is ALMOST Tropic Tan/Nikki but it’s slightly too pink and light. Still darker than other Caucasian skin tones though.

For reference only.

A fun but unscientific comparison between cameras and 50mm f/1.2's - I think the differences are mostly from the lens. The Canon RF 50mm 1.2L is sharper wide open than the Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.2, shows less CA, and renders the out of focus area a bit softer. Canon's offering is also more than 2x the price of the Voigtlander (Cosina) and comically larger.

The straight out of camera colors are (subjectively) more pleasing with the Leica, though both of these images were edited in Lr to look as similar as possible.

These two are a comparison for exact same ToD and weather without any changes for dungeon and "normal" interior. I think I'm close to striking a good balance. Close... but not there. What do you think??

P.S. Yeah, I know those weird lights up above the bar are weird. Relighting Skyrim puts them there I think. Not sure what to do about them... Ah well. It's Skyrim... If only Bethesda actually made it so windowlights actually, you know, emit light.

I have three lenses that are prime lenses and fall within a close range in terms of mm. In no particular order they are the Lensbaby Twist 60, the TAMRON | SP 45mm F/1.8 Di VC USD and the Helios 44-2 2/58mm.

I was curious to compare their features and I came up with the idea of shooting exactly the same scene with each lens with their apertures as wide open as they could go.

The Twist 60 and the Helios are only 2mm apart yet the exposures were visibly of different sizes. The Tamron at 45mm was considerably smaller. I shot the photos from a tripod and changed lenses without disturbing the camera's position. I used Photoshop to align the images which also resized them to the same scale.

No sharpening or contrast adjustments for any of the images. I tried to even out exposures since they all had different widest aperture capabilities by adjusting shutter speeds for each picture.

The Helios by my eye has a delicate, pale look. Not sharp, but creamy in an appealing way. The Twist 60 captured warmer tones with slightly stronger contrast. The Tamron captured the deepest contrast, warm tones. Each lens rendered bokeh in very different and distinctive ways.

I like each of the lenses for their different qualities. The Helios was the least expensive lens--about $50 with a Canon adaptor and shipping.

That's the beauty of a DSLR, the incredible lenses you can put on it. I even had an adaptor for a pin hole lens.

More comparisons between my X-Wing MOC and the Red 5 hero miniature. I struggled to match the perspectives of these photos.

Skintone comparison: Suzume (Katoya), Kittie (Another Rabbit), Ayame (Katoya), Clarissa (Another Rabbit).

So, a while ago, Johnathon commented asking about Prin (the one on the right) and her eyechips. (I realized the other day I never answer about that! I apologize. I hadn't looked at their eyechips enough to answer, as silly as that sounds. So sorry about that.)

I tried to take a photo to compare their eyechips but I think the flash made it weird.

Lorelei is on the left. She is a factory produced doll. The unnamed girl in the middle is one of the Kenner quints from Cincinnati. She and Prin, on the right, share some prototype qualities. I think Cincinnati girl was sort of in between. Not quite like the other dolls I have but not as different as Prin.

Yes. I do over analyze all my dolls and that's fun for me.

So I sometimes will reshoot the same thing on a different film to make a real world comparison. The time of day was the same. The light was the same. Just different film.

Two conclusions:

1) My composition was better the other day.

2) I don't really like this film.

There are significant size differences between salamander species which fill different niches in the same general habitat.

In the mixed temperate forests of Western New York, A. maculatum lives primarily under ground or beneath heavy cover, feeding on earthworms, slugs, and large grubs inhabiting the soil. It is the largest terrestrial salamander in the region.

D. ochrophaeus, a much smaller species, is more active at or near the surface, beneath light cover at the edges of streams and seeps where smaller invertebrate prey are plentiful in and out of the water.
