Here is another version of Brooks' BCKK.
Next to the BCKK other components of this rig are:
- Ricoh GR digital
- Prinzler's 433TxRx
- GentSwitches and a Gent1V5
- BW video link
- Breuer 360 servo
- Ricoh CA-1 remote cable
The customer wanted an electronic shutter release but the Ricoh has no IR-sensor nor a switchable input. But a remote control cable is an accessory. This unit has a lot of electronics inside and is powered by its own 1.5 V AAA battery.
I modified this Ricoh part by taking out its internals and have it triggered by the 433TxRx remote control through 2 electronic switches.
To get rid of the 1.5 V battery a 4.8 to 1.5 V converter was added. All these parts are in the black box that is fitted on the tilt frame behind the camera.
The client wanted to have the rig to fit in a very strong and watertight Storm Case iM2075. This required a very compact version of the BCKK and so some tricks had to come in:
- the legs were shortened by 6 cm.
- the tilt axis is moved upwards by mounting the tilt servo upside down and drilling an extra hole in the left leg of the main frame.
- this caused contact between the black box and the pan servo. This problem was solved by adding two 5 mm spacers between the main frame and the gear bracket. Now the top of this bracket is at the same level as the battery pack.
Every time I build a BCKK I'm surprised by its possiblities.

Trying out the “compact” Sony RX1 let me to believe that modern “rolleiflexes” (massive top of consumer image quality packed in a small and portable solution) could very well exist outside of the overfamed Leica brand. While the sensor display similar greatness as modern 24mp fullframe Sony sensors (seen in the Nikon D600/D610, Sony a99/a7), the 35mm Zeiss Lens makes the entire experience very enjoyable by providing a balanced look in colors/sharpness/contrast/bokeh that is very hard to match. Found at 1600$, the solution represents an amazing value for those who pair the camera with say an RX100 or want to carry the smallest and highest image quality producing camera.
The build quality of the body is near perfect as no detail or corners have been cut. The only complain is that the body itself gets heavy after an hour of handholding (I was really treating it like a point and shoot)
AF isn't it’s strong point though, people wanting quicker AF would want to invest in the A7. Some quirks like not using the smallest f number in shutter priority mode don’t really prevent this from being an amazing camera to recommend.
By setting the camera profile to “Deep” in the develop module of Lightroom, you will already achieve a great look to work on from the get go. This streamlines the workflow even more than any other files I’ve worked with.
If there is a camera today that's the perfect mariage between sensor and lens, this is probably IT.
I really loved the RX1

A simpel 300W studio flash with a softbox was placed to the right. It points slighty upward and away from the background. The distance to the hand is minimal (less then a feet). The flash was triggered with an on-camera 430 EX that was equipped with a cardboard snoot. The directed light from the Speedlite created a nice diffuse reflection on the charcoal-colored plastic background. Skin tone corrections and dust cleanup were made in PS CS3.
Compact heat pumps based on engineered microsystems could be developed for portable and building applications. Components that could be miniaturized include a heat-actuated compressor and microchannel heat exchangers.

The AMC Concord was a compact car made by the American Motors Corporation (AMC) starting with model year 1978 and continuing to 1983. The Concord was intended to replace not only the similar AMC Hornet, but to some extent the aging mid-size AMC Matador that would be discontinued after 1978 in a market moving to downsized automobiles. Offered in four-door sedan, two-door coupé (through 1982), three-door hatchback (through 1979) and four-door station wagon forms, AMC sought to give its, by this time venerable, compact car an image of luxury, class, and value. The Concord was AMC's volume seller from the time it appeared.

Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandugo
The Sandugo was a blood compact, performed in the island of Bohol in the Philippines, between the Spanish explorer Miguel López de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna the chieftain of Bohol on March 16, 1565, to seal their friendship as part of the tribal tradition. This is considered as the first treaty of friendship between the Spaniards and Filipinos. "Sandugo" is a Visayan word which means "one blood".
The Sandugo is depicted in both the provincial flag and the official seal of the government in Bohol. It also features the image of the blood compact. The top of the seal explains the history behind the Sandugo event that occurred in Bohol, the fleet and the location where the Spaniards anchored and the place where the treaty was conducted which was dated on March 16, 1565
