Said to be the last Agfa made in Germany. As the name says, it is very compact. The film is pre-wound upon loading and returns to the cassette after exposure. Auto exposure. Manual focus. Electronic controls. Use two AAA batteries.
Ponder & Best's computer keeps very busy! This actually does seem to be a fresh design for 1969, reflecting P&B's increasing involvement in their Japanese suppliers' design process.
I'll leave it to you to evaluate how "compact" this lens actually is; but the 4.5-foot minimum focus is indeed a cut above the norm.
I got my own copy of this lens in one of those "whoops" eBay lowball-bid incidents. But it arrived with sticky aperture blades. While I did eventually succeed in cleaning and reassembling the lens, as I recall my wisdom from that experience was that opening from the back was a mistake (the click mechanism for the aperture ring has an incredibly tiny spring and ball bearing). Taking care to note the original orientations of threaded parts up front, it was much easier to extract and clean the aperture blades from that end (using lighter fluid).

X is on page 2352 of the Compact Oxford English Dictionary. It devotes one section on this page, nine on the next page and two and a half on the following page. Twelve and a half sections out of over twenty thousand sections devoted to other letters. It's not surprising that it's hard to come up with a new photo of something beginning with X when one has been playing February Alphabet Fun for over ten years.
This photograph comes to you by courtesy of the letter X, my twenty-fourth picture for the February Alphabet Fun: 2024 group.

A very appropriate word for my Olympus OM-D E-M5 Camera: COMPACT... 3rd Day shooting with the Micro 4/3 camera and I'm still surprised by how small and how much power this camera has...

How things have changed over the years, the one at the back is from 1979 and the digital one at the front is from 2006... positively ancient by today's standards. Many of the photos on my current photostream are still being taken with the little Sony by the way !
To make this photo I laid a white sheet of paper and propped it up with a book on my kitchen worktop and mounted my Canon 7D on a tripod and did a long exposure under the kitchen light on auto white balance....all very low tech.

Video try 1 - pool underwater,
Bought this compact for holidays,
Although the battery/card access cover seems kind of very-very flimsy, with all my fears it did not let water in.
The camera is pretty tough build though and makes photos that not that bad. Although it is easy to get nice photos once you out of the water, I have to admit- it is pretty much difficult to get good photos underwater!
When it is very bright the vids and photos are very noisy, when it is dark, it is impossible to get good photo underwater because the exposure is too long
