In spite of (or maybe because of) so many of the real ones being made, there don't seem to be a lot of scale models of Mercedes 107s around. I was surprised to happen across this MicroMachines version for a couple of bucks on eBay, so I jumped at it .... but it was white, and repainting it to match the Merz is proving a real challenge for my shaky old hands. I resorted to using a toothpick instead of a paint brush for some of the smaller details, I should probably have given up on the brush earlier. It's still cute, though, you just have to not look too close. Still need to get some orange paint for the turn signal lenses.
I've always wondered how they manage to paint these little cars - trying to repaint one myself has not made this any more comprehensible. I was better at this sort of thing when I was 10; maybe small hands help
The model is actually a 560SLC, but that's pretty close. I painted over the vents on the sides to make them look like part of the side windows.
