Another awsome Sport Compact event at WSID.Loads of cars made the trek from all over Aus to compete.Almost capacity entries on the track & a great selection of hot cars on show.
The presentation standard of Sport Compact drag cars has really amazed me so far this year, with a lot of the top runner track cars looking like prestine show cars with candy pearl paint jobs,tastefull air brushing and graffix and tuff drag spec rims all round. these guys have definatly stepped it up a notch!
Took a whole lot of photo's throughout the day, but unfortunatly forgot my memory backup so was limited to 4G worth of space...Ahhhrr.

Hamm 3412 compactor with vibratory smooth roller drum alongside a Thwaites Alldrive 9 Tonne tier 4 dumper - can't tell if it has the Power Swivel or not.
Both being used on a building site rather than the roads.
outside the indian restaurant where I've been getting lunch of late. one of the guys who worked there was outside for a smoke break, and gave me a funny look or two as I worked out this shot, but I'm glad I took the time.

Growing with both parents for comparison, the hybrid had weaker ridges in the area of stem below the fruit-head than J. conglomeratus, but clearly visible and feelable, unlike J. effusus. In the field, the bract length was intermediate, longer than the short bract of J. conglomeratus, but shorter than most J. effusus. There's an excellent paper on the hybrid at:
