Today's shot is a studio photo of some smoke.
This was taken on the Fuji compact on manual settings, including manual focus. The smoke is lit with an off camera speedlite fired from a Yongnuo YN-622C radio trigger.
The photo is then processed in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Stage One: I installed the recommended 110 width bottom bracket so that I could mount the Velo-Orange compact double crankset. With a 48/32 combination, I'm hoping this will meet my all around needs. I also find this to be quite a beautiful set of cranks.

Olympus made some really good compacts over the years.
All these are nice to use and produce great images.
The XA4 is one of a few fixed lens cameras that is wide angle.
A fine lens and it focus down to 0.3 metre.
Things I don't like are no filter / lens hood mounting, and DX coding. The DX is easily over ridden with a bit of electrical tape then I can set the ISO manually for a bit more control.
The 35RC needed new light seals and I have made these from black felt rather than foam. Only other issue with this is the battery. Best solution is a thirty quid batery adapter from the Small Battery Company. Otherwise it is off setting the ISO to compensate from slightly higher voltage of the S625PX silver oxide batteries that is available now.
The Pen has limited versatility but it works really well in most conditions except low light, it just stops working when it gets to 1/40 at f2.8. So fast film in the winter.
Because the city of Richmond in British Columbia is located on a river delta, the soil must be compacted before a large structure can be built. The common method is to bring in a big pile of dirt and let it lie there for a period of time. This pile of dirt is compacting the soil in preparation for a condominium complex. There are five main beaches in the East Devon area where you can hire, either from the council or privately, a site to erect a beach hut or a beach hut - Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth, Seaton and this one - Beer.
Waiting lists to hire a site or a hut in each area are now all in excess of 5 years and the waiting list for Budleigh Salterton is now closed until further notice as it currently stands at just over 12 years!!
Another awsome Sport Compact event at WSID.Loads of cars made the trek from all over Aus to compete.Almost capacity entries on the track & a great selection of hot cars on show.
The presentation standard of Sport Compact drag cars has really amazed me so far this year, with a lot of the top runner track cars looking like prestine show cars with candy pearl paint jobs,tastefull air brushing and graffix and tuff drag spec rims all round. these guys have definatly stepped it up a notch!
Took a whole lot of photo's throughout the day, but unfortunatly forgot my memory backup so was limited to 4G worth of space...Ahhhrr.

The first three weeks of sporadic use of the premium compact Fujifilm X100VI. In the meantime, here are some photos of architecture (and cats). In the next few days, I'll also post a few portraits.
First impressions are very positive. The colors are excellent, as I expected, but above all, the experience, thanks to the rangefinder viewfinder, is reminiscent of using film cameras, offering a healthy 'detox' from mirrorless systems.
The first drawbacks? The menu is complicated, but I've always used Sony or Pentax, and the autofocus is somewhat inaccurate and hesitant. However, this is likely a user error on my part, as I’ve been happily using vintage manual focus lenses for years.

A U.S. Air Force explosive ordnance disposal technicians assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron operate a compact metal detector to assess a potential threat during nighttime counter-improvised explosive device training at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, Oct. 21, 2017. The scenario, based off of real-world experiences, tested the EOD technicians’ combat operational skills in a low-visibility environment. The Airmen began the night with a simulated air insertion, followed by a five-kilometer movement to a location where they would detect, disarm, detonate and dispose of simulated explosive threats.
