Back in July, I asked Marion to be part of a portrait. A week later, I started contacting artists and friends to contribute to a 2014 calendar. I was embarking on a super-special-secret Christmas present for my one true love.
I supplied each artist with the original high-res image and asked for an interpretation of the portrait. I wanted everyone to have fun with it. As real or as unreal as they saw fit. Simple or elaborate. I only asked that the dimensions remain close to square.
I contacted brightformat in Michigan to discuss printing and paper stock. I ended up going with Mohawk Everyday digital 100# covers stock, with silver binder clips to hold each calendar together.
After receiving all the finished artwork, I chose which art went with each month and designed the calendar dates portion. I included major holidays and immediate family birthdays. Each month also features the name and location of each contributing artist. Every month is completely unique and meaningful.
On Christmas day I gave Marion the calendar. She was so surprised and full of joy! I’m incredibly thankful for everyone that helped make this possible.
I printed enough copies to give calendars to both our families, and am sending one to each contributing artist.
I love the way this calendar turned out. Here’s to a bright, colorful, inspired 2014!
Check back for posts that highlight each month’s artist!
I know there have been many Alice in Wonderland custom Blythes, and even though I normally don't do themed dolls as commissions, I was requested to create this girl for a dear friend and I couldn't resist; so here is my interpretation of the character.
I was asked to make her close to the Disney version. Her dress was provided by her mom and she was a lot of fun to create a photograph! Alice is a curious girl with a vivid imagination, she loves to read and hang out around trees. She will soon be traveling to Malaysia and hopefully won't be late for tea time! I hope you love her! 💛💙

Commissioned horns for Littlefee. Pale pastel pinks and lavenders with hints of grey and adorned with pearls.
Guys I’m still alive! My baby is home from Saudi so I’m a little preoccupied but I’ll be back soon. ^u^
This commission is for someone super lovely!
There are two reverse twin wigs~ This one is the darker one which will have some more dramatic shades in the top layers.
I'm working on the lighter one this afternoon so I'll try to post that up too. I wish I had another Unoa to model both on at once. I think they'll be so pretty together ;w;
The colours match my girls faceup so well though T - T

We have Mirai here with us today to show off her new faceup. This commission was done back in November but I had to keep her a secret because she was a surprise Christmas gift for someone. I hope she likes her.

Toronto Transit Commission 2009 Orion VII NG HEV #1828 seen on 53B Steeles East at Yonge Street and Bishop Avenue.
No correspondence.
A decorated Bavarian Offizierstellvertreter from Königlich Bayerisches 9. Infanterie-Regiment „Wrede“ circa 1916.
Offizierstellvertreter or acting officer, was a rank created in June 1915, partly to facilitate the replacement of subaltern officers, ensigns and platoon commanders by non-commissioned officers.
Repainted a normal skinned Alna. ^v^ I love the extra lashes, makes her look so beautiful. I've said this before but ALNA'S LIPS ARE THE PRETTIEST! <3

Synesthesia Art:
Encaustic (resin, wax, various pigments) on posterboard. Color and motion inspired by my actual synesthesia visions of the song, which I played over and over again while painting this.
I've worked with encaustic in the past, but didn't have access to these materials while in Cayman. So this is the first time in over a year that I've been working with them again, and I find that it's a bit like riding a bike...except that with encaustic, you've got high-powered hand-held propane blow torches to worry about instead of peddles. Nonetheless, I jumped right back into the swing of things and am very pleased with the outcome.
"Goobye Blue Sky" is a song I'd only heard a few times prior Coalburn's commission, and is probably not one of Pink Floyd's most famous, despite appearing on one of their most popular albums, The Wall.
Vocals range in the teal, blue, and gray-green, while guitar is (as usual) red, orange, and occasionally yellow for the 'twangier' bits. There's also an unusual grayish-silver haze in the background (which is an undertone that's supposed to sound like war planes or something), that actually worked out perfectly with the encaustic medium due to my ability to apply 3-D layers of wax down, which I cannot do with acrylic.
I should start a "girls with flamethrowers" club. All the encaustic artists I've ever met or worked with have been girls. ;)
Anyhow, I'm still taking commissions. So if you're interested, please contact me at lionheart09@comcast.net
Hello everyone~
Our last commissions are finishing up nicely and we are on target to finish before August 1st.
Just a reminder that we will be opening on August 1st for new commissions.
We would like to encourage anyone who will be trying to order with us to confirm that their design is possible ahead of slot releases.
We will not be accepting any hairstyles that have not previously been made (no ponytails, buns, man buns etc) and will not be accepting ombre either. Blends are fine though and any of our standard styles or ones that you have seen here on flickr are available (including short cuts, ponytails, asymmetrical, splits etc). I will be updating the site over the next couple of days with the options that will be available.
Browns and certain ginger shades are a bit trickier to dye than most colours. Soy does not come in white so will need to be substituted with an alternative fibre. If you plan to order any of these or just want to confirm that we can make your request please contact us here; (ahead of August 1st)
