I had a wonderful day out singing with the choir at Giant Bradley Day in Market Weighton. Lots of things to see, acts, stalls, food, sunshine, music, joy.
We did 2 sets with an hour gap in the middle, so during the break I went for a wander around to see what there was to see.
I ended up watching a skiffle band called The Laggy Band (there are a couple of videos of them in this set). They were going to do a Housemartins song so as the Houemartins were a Hull band, they asked if anypne was from Hull. So I put my hand up.
They then blew my mind! They asked if I clean ovens! That really took me by surprise - how did they know? Had I cleaned one of their ovens at some point? No - as it turns out, Gemma and I had met one of the Laggy Band members a few months previously and they had recognised me, ha ha! And they even gave my business a shoutout - very lovely of them!

I went to see the one man show Buffy Revamped with my dear friend Simon. It was brilliant!
Buffy The Vampire Slayer remains one my my all-time favourite shows, and this was a hilarious take one it. I highly recommend going to see it if it's touring near you and you loved the TV show.

«Non sono filoputiniana, in Ucraina c’è un aggressore: la Russia. Questa polemica è fatta per delegittimarmi». Così Virginia Raggi, ex sindaca di Roma e attuale presidente della Commissione Expo 2030, è intervenuta per replicare agli attacchi ricevuti su presunte sue simpatie per il dittatore di Mosca, dopo alcuni interventi nelle chat del Movimento 5 stelle. A far discutere, la contrarietà espressa dall’esponente pentastellato all’invio di armi in Ucraina e l’aver condiviso il giudizio secondo cui Kiev sarebbe in mano a politici «eterodiretti» a causa dell’«ingerenza di Usa e Ue».
Il primo a bocciare le tesi dell’ex sindaca è stato il leader di Azione, Carlo Calenda, che sul suo profilo Twitter l’ha definita un «megafono della propaganda russa» e ha sollecitato le sue dimissioni dal suo ruolo nella Commissione Expo 2030. «Abbiamo votato l’accordo sulle commissioni di minoranza proposto da Gualtieri - ha aggiunto Calenda - con molte perplessità e per ragioni di correttezza istituzionale. Ora basta. La Raggi già no vax e oggi megafono della propaganda russa se ne deve andare». Sulla stessa linea gli esponenti di Italia Viva. Il deputato Luciano Nobili ha ritwittato la petizione per le dimissioni di Virginia Raggi dalla presidenza della Commissione Expo 2030, lanciata dal consigliere capitolino Valerio Casini. Il senatore di Italia Viva Francesco Bonifazi, inoltre, coglie l’occasione per lanciare una stoccata a Calenda: «Sulla vicenda Raggi, che lui ha votato e noi no, Carlo Calenda si dimostra un uomo che ha litigato con la politica fin da piccino. Non è cattivo: proprio non fa per lui».

L’esplosione del caso Raggi - sul quale si sono pronunciati anche numerosi esponenti della politica romana, soprattutto di parte Pd - ha indotto in un momento successivo l’ex sindaca a precisare: «Ho condiviso in una chat privata le analisi sulle tensioni tra Russia e Ucraina che aveva fatto, fin dal 2014, l’allora parlamentare europeo Dario Tamburrano. Dario invitava a intervenire prontamente per evitare che la guerra si estendesse dalla Crimea e dal Donbass a tutta l’Ucraina e all’Europa. Aveva ragione. Non sono una filo-putiniana o filo-russa: è evidente che in Ucraina ci sia un aggressore, la Russia, come è pubblica la mia contrarietà alla guerra come soluzione dei conflitti. Mi si vuole affibbiare questa etichetta per delegittimarmi». Ulteriore precisazione: «Ho detto pubblicamente che ho serie perplessità sull’invio di armi in Ucraina così come ho detto che dobbiamo renderci liberi dal ricatto russo sulla fornitura del gas. Credo che vadano trovate delle soluzioni di mediazione tra le parti - ben vengano le trattative diplomatiche in corso - e che vadano comprese e approfondite le cause del conflitto. L’energia è, indubbiamente, la chiave per capire e quindi intervenire».

Mi rincresce dover fare questa premessa (ritengo anche banali queste mie affermazioni) ma mi si vuole affibbiare questa “etichetta” per delegittimarmi. Ho detto pubblicamente che ho serie perplessità sull’invio di armi in Ucraina, così come ho detto che dobbiamo renderci liberi dal ricatto russo sulla fornitura del gas. Credo che vadano trovate delle soluzioni di mediazione tra le parti – ben vengano le trattative diplomatiche in corso – e che vadano comprese e approfondite le cause del conflitto.
L’energia è, indubbiamente, la chiave per capire e quindi intervenire.
Ho condiviso in una chat privata le analisi sulle tensioni tra Russia e Ucraina che aveva fatto, fin dal 2014, l’allora parlamentare europeo Dario Tamburrano. Dario invitava ad intervenire prontamente per evitare che la guerra si estendesse dalla Crimea e dal Donbass a tutta l’Ucraina e all’Europa. Aveva ragione. Allo stesso tempo proponeva una soluzione: limitare l’incidenza del gas russo nelle forniture energetiche dell’Europa e investire nelle fonti rinnovabili.
Ed è quello che, secondo me, dobbiamo fare. Per me è questa una delle “armi” che abbiamo per depotenziare il conflitto. Ovviamente, le mie parole sono state distorte per creare una contrapposizione tutta politica tra “buoni” e “cattivi” all’interno della quale chi non si adegua è ovviamente un “cattivo”.
Per raggiungere l’obiettivo dell’indipendenza e della transizione energetica dobbiamo stare tutti dalla stessa parte.

E' ANCORA COLPA DELLA RAGGI E DEL M5S? Roma, il centro storico dove vivo, è impresentabile. Per 5 anni giornaloni e politici hanno letteralmente massacrato Virginia Raggi perché Roma era "sporca" . Oggi è sotto gli occhi di tutti il degrado che sta vivendo la capitale. Ma ovviamente il silenzio regna come la spazzatura...

Caro Roberto Gualtieri, ora cinque mesi dopo la tua elezione nell'ottobre 2021, i romani del centro storico di Roma stanno nuotando in più spazzatura che mai! Tu e la tua amministrazione non avete mostrato nulla su come intendete (niente nessuna informazione utile sulla pagina web del comune di Roma, magari un inutile tweet di tanto in tanto) di ripulire e trasformare per il futuro giubileo 2025? Ho seguito il lavoro di ogni Sindaco di Roma, da Francesco Rutelli ad oggi, Tu (1995-2022). Tra tutti i passati Sindaci di Roma, hai fornito ai romani, agli italiani e alla comunità internazionale che (per quanto mi riguarda) il centro di Roma (come per me), senza un piano o informazioni? I romani meritano di meglio, ma io e loro non ci aspetteremo molto da te!

De tamaño mayor que un águila, su envergadura alar puede ser de hasta 260 cm. En vuelo sus alas parecen tablas. Las bate con las primarias abiertas y desplegadas, el cuello recogido y la cola corta.
Tiene una coloración canela en el plumaje del dorso, el vientre y la franja anterior de las alas, mientras que el resto de las plumas alares y de la cola son pardas oscuras. La cabeza y el largo cuello están cubiertos de un plumón blanco. Posee un característico collar de largas plumas leonadas. El pico es pardo en el centro; su base y su punta son amarillas. Los pies son de color gris plomo.
El buitre es un planeador nato, que apenas bate sus alas, ganando altura rápidamente con sólo imperceptibles movimientos de la cola. Desde el suelo arranca dándose un impulso.
Forma colonias en los cortados, los acantilados y las paredes rocosas, independientemente de que éstos se hallen en macizos montañosos o en zonas altitudinalmente bajas. Suele hallarse en las repisas de los cantiles hacia el amanecer, a la espera de que el sol caliente el aire y se formen las corrientes térmicas sobre las que planear. De este modo el buitre vuela a lo largo de todo el día sin apenas gastar energía. Al atardecer regresa a la buitrera para descansar.
Aunque es un ave sedentaria, los individuos más jóvenes pueden recorrer grandes distancias apartándose de sus progenitores.
Está presente en casi toda la Península Ibérica, salvo en Galicia, el oeste de Asturias y algunas áreas del Levante.
El tiempo de celo empieza en diciembre y termina en abril.
Antes del apareamiento, el macho corteja a su hembra de forma grotesca y primaria. Las parejas vuelan unidas realizando pasadas rápidas sobre la cornisa donde próximamente nidificarán.
Incuban en acantilados llamados "buitreras", que datan de tiempos inmemoriales. Ambos sexos participan en la construcción del nido, elaborado con palos, paja y pelo. Ponen a finales de enero. La incubación del único huevo dura unos 52 días y está a cargo de ambos progenitores, que se turnan a intervalos de 24 ó 48 horas.
El pequeño abandonará el nido en julio o agosto.
Se alimenta de carroña, la mayoría de las veces en franca descomposición y otras en fase incipiente.
En áreas donde son habituales los buitres, se les ve reunirse alrededor de una animal muerto con una rapidez inusitada.
Todo el día lo pasan colgados a enormes alturas, donde son invisibles al ojo humano, lanzándose hacia abajo con las alas semirrecogidas y las plumas crepitando. Cuando uno desciende, los demás le imitan.
Una vez llegado junto a la carroña, el buitre se comporta de una manera desmesuradamente tímida. Pero una vez ha dado comienzo su comilona, se enzarzan en espectaculares peleas, en las cuales suele quedarse con la mejor tajada el que llegó más hambriento.

I'm getting sick again, the weekend is over and I have lots of work to get done over the next week.
I kind of regret cutting my hair as short as I did ....I do know that everytime I see a girl with long hair I wish it was mine but I know I just have to get used to it.

On the new photo page for a given image, there's a pulldown menu labeled "Share this".
Pull down this menu and click on "Grab the HTML".
A text window will open. Choose the image size that you want from the pulldown menu below the text window. Select the size that you want, e.g. "Medium 500".
Highlight the text in the text window by clicking once inside the window. If the text isn't highlighted at this point, hit Command-A to highlight it. (Ctrl-A on Windows).
On an Apple, hit Command-C to copy it to the clipboard. (Ctrl-C on Windows).
Now go back to the comment you're working on and place the cursor where you want the photograph to appear in the comment.
Hit Command-V (ctrl-V on Windows) to paste the HTML into your comment. When you're done commenting, submit it in the usual way and the picture (with a hotlink to it's corresponding Flickr page) will appear in the comment.
You can backdate the image that you're linking so that it doesn't show up at the head of your photostream.
