Überraschendes Comeback - Nach der Schließung des ersten deutschen Spaßbades - dem ALPAMARE in Bad Tölz - im Jahr 2015 hat jetzt im Nachbardorf Reichersbeuern das ALPAMARE wieder eröffnet. Der Rutschenbetrieb läuft bereits wieder in vollem Gange.
Dadurch wurde das hinternational weitgehend unbekannte Reischbein zum an-und aberkannten teilklimatischen Kurort Bad Reichersbeuern und der faden Greisstadt Bad Tölz musste der Zusatz "Bad" leider aberkannt werden :-)))

Not too many years ago, the bald eagle was on the endangered list. Conservation efforts have succeeded in stabilizing this wonderful bird. Apart from Alaska, Minnesota ranks in the top 2 of eagle population with nearly 10,000 mating pairs. Our many bodies of water are a main attraction.
I did feel a bit sorry for this little fellow, who woke up this morning to find that summer was short this year..! Good thing she still has her thick winter coat! Besides, she is probably pregnant too...
The night had blessed us with at least 5 cm of fresh, white snow... hopefully it will disappear during the day!
I know that the particular units pictured are not a physical representation of the mass reactivation of warbonnets, but as they don the same coat of red and silver, they represent the spirit of the ATSF that refuses to die.

As you could easily "see" I was away from Flickr (and from net) this last month (or more than that).
I had been in Macao, invited by Mr. Yang Shaoming, president of SWECP (Society of World Ethnic Chinese Photographers ), and by Macao Foundation, to capture the daily life in Macao. Here is an excert of the invitation:
"Dear Mr. Palha, Hope this message will find you well. The Society of World Ethnic Chinese Photographers would like to invite you to Macao at your convenience this year to take an important part in the Society's high level photo event to reflect the daily life of the city. We hope that you would kindly accept our invitation and spend about 15 days taking photos in Macao and believe that your unique Portuguese perspective and Cartier-Bressonian style contribution would make our event a complete and world class reflection of the unique life style in the city"

Although the car is rare, “pictures” of this car are anything but rare. Many fine pictures of this classic car have been recorded and posted on flickr (including one other that I had posted some time ago.) Actually I had totally forgotten that I had previously posted a picture of this Cord and continued to work merrily along my way in creating this artwork. (Again, I call this “artwork” but others may not agree.) This current picture of The Cord E-1 was recorded during a recent visit to the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Museum (the rather unpleasant experience of October 8, 20 to which I have made references.) Actually, I recorded this as a last minute impulse more out of mere desperation for some new pictures.
So why am I even posting it, you might think. Well, let’s just say simply for laughs and giggles. And the picture of this vintage actress as a back drop? Really no connection or association to the Cord - just a pretty face in the crowd one might say.

Danielle Darrieux was a French actress born in 1917 in Bordeaux, France. Primarily she starred in French movies. However, in 1938, she did (somehow-someway) get a part in a Hollywood comedy, The Rage of Paris but then quickly returned to Paris where she remained during the occupation, continuing to get parts in French movies. In 1970, once again returning to the U.S. she replaced Katharine Hepburn in the Broadway production of, “Coco”. In 2002 she made a triumphant comeback, playing Catherine Deneuve's mother in the international hit 8 Women .
