I came home one morning from an errand to find the sky spectacularly crisp and free of clouds. I live across the street from the local power plant, and I was happy to see the billowing plumes of steam coming out on such a chilly day. I think the power plant and the river are two of my favorite neighbors.

I rushed upstairs and grabbed my camera to get a shot before the inevitable clouds rolled in. It had to be 20 degrees Fahrenheit or so, the kind of chill that makes me reach for the hat.

I've been praying for a clear night for some time now. I really want to do some astrophotography...

same place as the next picture - same mountian - i just thought i'd give you a sense for how cold it was. for anyone who is a skiier or snowboarder - you should recognize the look in those clouds. what was a severe rain storm back at my place in Ota (on the Kanto plain - read: lower) was a pretty crazy snow storm on the mountains (read: higher). it was blowing like i haven't seen it here before. and i thought it was going to be a nice fall day...

The Buçaco Forest offers a variety of monuments and walks. In one of the walks through the forest, you can find the Cold Fountain. From a mountain spring, water bounces downhill over 144 steps in a cool, shaded forest setting.
