Taken using off camera flash a Yongnuo YN565EX linked to the camera with a Nissin SC-01 sync cord. The flash was held quite close to the lens on the left set at 24mm and had the diffuser for wide angle flash in place.

My feet are so so cold! I'm running really low on socks (have to do laundry!) so I just found the two warmest socks that I had left and put them on. I really don't care that they don't match!
It's very cold this morning in Fairbanks (-49 F). It is always amazing to see the little redpolls at our bird feeders. They puff up so much that they look like golf balls with wings. They also puff up so much that they cannot lay their wings along their body so they stick out.
Mostly it's amazing that they can survive these temperatures.

I've been waiting and waiting for winter to set in to finish my "52 in 2014" challenge but after just one week of a little bit snow in November, the weather just remains mild, grey and wet.
That's why I need to resort to a photo from February this year, which represents the required theme quite well, I think. Taken onboard a passenger ferry, just after leaving the port of Helsinki, on our way to Stockholm. After sunset there is often this mysterious, cold, blue moment before everything vanishes inside the winter cloak of darkness.
