Late addition to my Climbing Mt. Washington, 1969 album.
When we finally reached the summit, the cog-railway train was just about to leave -- but the guy selling tickets had closed up shop! This was not only the last train of the day, but the last until the following spring -- six months later! We had to beg the ticket-seller to open up again. He did, and we got our ride down the mountain. Our climb up Mt. Washington was over. What a day!

Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail
The Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail begins at the Base Road parking lot (2500 feet). It travels at first with easy to moderate grades, though the footway is rough, up to Gem Pool (3450 feet), 2.1 miles from the parking area. From this point on the trail travels up the headwall of Ammonoosuc Ravine, which is continually steep, rough, with sometimes slabby rock, and several stream crossings. The trail reaches treeline a short distance below the Appalachian Mountain Club's Lakes of the Clouds Hut (at 5012 feet), which is 3.1 miles from the parking lot. The Hut is usually open from about early June to early September, and is closed at all other times. Overnight lodging and meals are available on a reservation basis (see below). Public restrooms, and basic snacks and trail supplies are also available. The Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail ends here – follow the Crawford Path northward for 1.4 miles (passing several junctions with other trails) to the summit of Mount Washington (6288 feet) at 4.5 miles (3800 feet of elevation gain).

Been playing a lot of Gears of War 3 lately whenever I can squeeze it in, and I gotta say, it's a great video game! And this little trinket they include in the Limited Edition of the game is pretty awesome too.

I have a new film scanning contraption (a Canon 8800F). Yay!! It even copes with 120 film, which is rather good news.
My daughter got a new bike for her birthday - this is the last time that the rear cogs will look this clean!

Thomas Daley's Standsure Brick Company on Sydenham Road. Established in 1886, it was quite a successful venture, employing approximately 60 people before ceasing operations.

Base Station Mount Washington Cog Railway, New Hampshire - Summer 2003 - The cog railway still has some steam operations but in 2012 most trains are diesel powered.
Getting ready for the release of Gears of War 3 I decided to have a photo shoot with my COG tags and controller.
At this moment, Hadley jumping up to help me find a cog made me feel extra special. This week, it could easily also put me in tears. It's the little moments that catch me unaware. Hearing the phone ring and know it can no longer be from my brother. Looking at pictures of us as kids, hand-in-hand. Just the little things.

After dealing with cops, subways, endless amount of walking, weird looks, and one friendly drug dealer we got our hands on the Union Square COG.
Actually a part of the local public transportation system. The passengers were a mixture of obvious tourists, obvious local commuters, and probably plenty of non-noticeable people falling somewhere in between.
