A dumpling-ful dinner. Pork siu mai, prawn and chive dumplings, sticky rice in lotus leaves, and pak choi with oyster sauce. That's soursop juice drink in the glass.
I made this about 5 years ago when I had a furniture design class at Marshall University. It's maple and walnut. The base is 9 pieces of maple, cut at 10 degrees each, to make the arch. Alot of work on the arch.

This Reclaimed Pallet Side Table Has Upcycled Bed Frame Post Legs!
First I cut up all my pallets using a Sawzall reciprocating saw. I find that prying causes more damage and breakage. Next, I built the frame using the pallet stringers. I cut the bed posts to size and installed them. Once completed, I finished the top with deck boards, installing them with glue and brad nails. To finish, I used a dark blue paint on the top, let it dry and covered with a crackle medium blue tone and impatiently waited for it to dry. I sanded typical locations for wear with a piece of sandpaper and then coated it all with a water-based Varathane (the type for hardwood floors works best).
Oh, I love a bargain! Found this $13.99 coffee table (1/2 off yesterday!) at Goodwill. The light wood goes perfectly with the new place which was built in the 50's and, thus, is very sleek and blonde.

We think is a cool idea, we recently moved to ower apartment and lee didn't have any furniture, so we decide to upcycle this pallets, and was very fun to do it.

Building several wood stained coffee tables with different designs. I thought that I would dip into my wife's chalk painted. I built the table as usual, sand and ready for paint. I painted the entire surface white, tapped off the pattern and covered in grey... VOILA!

Special thanks to hopefoote for sending us a bunch of these leaves this year! Some of the leaves shown are ones we saved from last year (when we lived in Jersey). We now live in Texas where we don't get to see the fall colors, so it was wonderful to receive autumn via the mail! Thanks, Hope!!
The mosaic finished and grouted. The inspiration was the Austrailian Aboriginal artist Maxine Famagalli's wonderful "Turtle and Goanna Dreaming." If I was starting it again I'd do it differently and, yes, some of the grout still needs cleaning up!
