Site-Reclaimed Wood Furniture Collection
December 2022
Working in collaboration with Hariri Pontarini Architects, along with Allied and RioCan, Brothers Dressler was asked to reclaim the beams removed from the development site to create over 30 individual pieces of furniture for The Well office tower lobby, including a pair of undulating sculptured benches. The Douglas fir beams, from trees hundreds of years old, were given a second life as they transformed over 18 tonnes of them through their Toronto studio.
Working within the scope of Hariri Pontarini Architects’ initial design concepts, Brothers Dressler designed and produced the following pieces with this reclaimed wood:
‘Carved Plinth’ Stool and ‘Back to Log’ Stools
Sculpted and carved out of thick Douglas fir pieces, the seats of these chairs offer personal comfort upon a pedestal. Their smaller counterparts expose the growth rings of the by-gone tree trunk.
Beam Planters
Mimicking the beams from which they were carved, these elements have been reassembled to incorporate some greenery while retaining their weighty look within the immense space.
Round Cafe and Coffee Tables
Hand-turned on a lathe, solid stems join the circular base to the round top of these elementary tables.
Seventh build in my Iron Builder round against Chris Maddison, using the Tile, modified 2x3 Pentagonal
Yet another desktop. Coffee table height. Aged eucalyptus, lightly sanded. I will probably not refinish it for now. What do you think? Micron pens are there for scale of wood grain and cracks.

this shot might look like nothing.
but when i view it on black and stare at it for a while i feel like i am there again, sitting in the darkness of the morning.
Bram made this coffee table from scratch, you can write on it with chalk. i wrote something on it.
I have a basket sitting on my coffee table with some of my photos printed in 8 X 10. They are there to remind me that I better be very tired in order to sit on that couch instead of working with my photographs or commenting on Flickr. As I walked into the room this evening, the setting sun was shining through the weaves of the basket... talk about inspiration!

Just a play on words really but it does put one on edge when planes are shot out of the sky. I have heard that one of the passengers was a boy who had won the trip as a prize for doing well at school.

when i put down the tomatoes on the coffee table, doh came and sniffed it then went away. so i put a bit of breadcrumb under the tomatoes to get this shot, otherwise he wouldn't sit down that close.
i only rotated, cropped and adjusted the curves a little.
here we go :D
The angle of the sun this time of year creates such beautiful, soft light and wonderful shadows. It's one of the things I love about the colder months as the days get shorter...
Happy Monochrome Monday!
Glass-topped thick wicker patio coffee ( or el vino more usually :-) ) table getting a good baking.
Algarve.
Just a simple sitting room with a couple art pieces. I made the ‘coffee table’ using resin and a child’s teacup. The hanging art pieces are mini versions of photos I took in Venice. The mirrored table is hard to see, but I saw a table like this in Venice with boots on each leg……lots of $$$$$$. The glass pitchers remind of the Murano glass factories and the balloon dog is a memory of the Jeff Koons gallery in Venice.
