That's right...this is our coffee table. Pretty gnarly huh? I put the camera under the table and shot straight up. :)
I'm getting this to use as a coffee table. The main point of a coffee table in my house is to put feet on, and this is a versatile piece of furniture for a future smaller apartment. It also fits with my simple-lines-but-showing-age aesthetic that I'm totally drawn to.

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN--This well-preserved piece from 1970s China is made of walnut wood. It's smaller than the average coffee table, but that means it'll fit into the tiniest of a seating area; otherwise it also makes for a very handsome side table.

The legs of this coffee table are a couple of wine racks purchased at a yard sale. I used a leftover piece of plywood, a bit of paint, and glued on tiles from a seconds bin. Tiles don’t fit perfectly? No problem. I just filled in the spaces with some floral stones. Wine can still be stored underneath in the racks.

Antique Chinese Low Table
Antique Chinese kang-style table, now can be used as a coffee table. This low table may have originally been a tall table, as it resembles a mahjong table with a small drawer on each side of the table for placing mahjong tiles. Today, these drawers can be used to place the remote(s). Lovely light golden honey finish. Brass pulls on each drawer. The legs end in the traditional horse hoof design.

Ta Da. The finished product. $25 spent at IKEA, maybe another $10 on lumber and hardware, and I have a custom glass top coffee table.
I made this coffee table to be a show off, not to play chess. It is made with oak, maple and sapele. This is my personal table and I plan on keeping it. I could always make another one but it is no fun making the same thing twice.
Coffee Table made with Carved Screens
A vintage Chinese screen is the center and feature of this newly crafted coffee table. The screen is designed in geometric patterns. The body of the coffee table is minimal to focus attention on the carved screen. The legs end in the traditional Chinese horse hoof design. Table includes the glass top. Light brown finish.

I don't ever play video games anymore, hence the reason why I still have a PS2. I tried to light this scene so it emulated the light that comes in from the windows during the day.
