Photograph taken at 10:53am on Wednesday 16th July 2025 at an altitude of Forty one in the Grounds of Warnham Nature Reserve in Horsham, West Sussex. Here we see a beautiful Ardea Cinerea (Grey Heron) hunting in the summer sun. These birds are native to Europe and Asia as well as parts of Africa, with a wingspan up to Two metres and a mass of up to 2.2kgs, they stand around one metre tall.

  

The Millpond dates back to the 16th Century and parts of the woodland dates back even further to the 13th Century. A beautiful location for a walk, or to sit amongst nature and so see birds and butterflies in their natural habitat.

It was Completed in 1938, and spans the First Narrows of Burrard Inlet, connecting the City of Vancouver to the North Shore municipalities of North Vancouver and West Vancouver. It's named after the Lions, two mountain peaks visible from the city, and is also known as the First Narrows Bridge.

This photograph was taken at an altitude of Forty eight metres at 11:43am on a cold and wintry morning, on December 12th 2022, following overnight snow and a temperature of -3 degrees, off Chessington Avenue in Bexleyheath, Kent. Here we see a Black-headed gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus),in flight.

  

They are found in much of the Palearctic including Canada and Europe. In Canada it is called the Common black-headed gull.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Zero metres, at 13:24pm on Monday 9th January 2023, off Hyde Park Corner and Park Lane A4202 in the grounds of Hyde park, a Grade 1 listed Royal Park (the largest of) of London.

  

Here we see, Sciurus Carolinensis (Eastern Gray Squirrel or Grey Squirrel), a tree squirrel native to North America and first introduced to the UK in the 1870's. Though it was largely responsible for the decimation of our own native red squirrel population, those are now on the increase and found in certain parts of the UK including Scotland. The Greys are still an ecologically essential natural forester regenerator.

  

Spanning an area of 350 acres, the park is divided by the Serpentine and the Long water lakes, and was created by King Henry VIII in 1536 as hunting ground. It opened to the public in 1637 and was extensively improved under Queen Caroline in the early Eighteenth century. The Great exhibition for which the Crystal Palace was erected, designed by Joseph Paxton, was also held here.

I had a group shot yesterday with my camera club and decided to try making a time lapse video. The video runs for about 22 seconds and is made up of 523 images. The amount of time recorded is 40 minutes (I took a shot every 5 seconds). I used open source software Vdub to make the video, which did a good job. There is a more sophisticated software product called LRTimeLapse. It has a lot features but costs $133. This video is compressed using Cinpak Codec which cut the file size down 80%.

They rarely visit gardens unless snow is on the ground, and there are only a few nesting pairs in the UK, mainly in Scotland. They migrate to the UK from the Scandinavian coast, Russia, the Faroes and Iceland, and can detect berries using Ultra violet vision.They stay in the UK from October to April.

This is a short video that I did with the Cuban Prima Ballerina Kamila Capote, screen actor John Antonini, the Cuban musician Jorge Antonio Fernández Acosta and my long time right hand man Jimmy (A to Z) Andruszkewicz.

  

I shot this during my last trip to Cuba with a Nikon Zr that I had KolariVision do a full spectrum modification to so that I would be able to shoot both visible spectrum and infrared.

  

I shot this, Kami and John were the stars, Jorge the composer, John the DaVinci Resolve magician and Jimmy was the human gimbal

  

A Brief History of Time:

  

Received the camera from Jimmy in Havana, no manual, no internet to check things, no cell coverage so no calls for tech support. (So thank the Photo Gods that the Nikon menu structure is so intuitive). Set the camera up to use the RED R3D codec. Had the foresight to download the RED LUTS. Only had a 1.3tb Delkin Black card, so three takes no more, had to shoot this between things and made the whole thing up as the week went o on. The only thin I knew was I wanted to shoot Kami in IR. When I shot Kami we had no music so I told her that her movements needed to be 61 beats a second. Jorge wrote the music with the only instruction being Key of D, no percussion, “cinematic” sounding strings 61 beats a minute. RUN TIME TO BE twominutes 30 seconds-ish. John just happened to have taken up playing in DaVinci Resolve. Coincidence is indeed the universe’s attempt to remain anonymous.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Three metres, at 13:02pm on Monday 9th January 2023, off Hyde Park Corner and Park Lane A4202 in the grounds of Hyde park, a Grade 1 listed Royal Park (the largest of) of London.

  

Here we see an adult Eurasian coot (Fulica atra), also known as the Common coot or Australian coot, a member of the Rail and crake family, Rallidae.

  

Spanning an area of 350 acres, the park is divided by the Serpentine and the Long water lakes, and was created by King Henry VIII in 1536 as hunting ground. It opened to the public in 1637 and was extensively improved under Queen Caroline in the early Eighteenth century. The Great exhibition for which the Crystal Palace was erected, designed by Joseph Paxton, was also held here.

It is also a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation. It is over 300 acres, and is part of an extensive wildlife corridor together with Petts Wood and the Jubilee Country Park.

Here we see an adult Red-breasted goose (Branta ruficollis) from Eurasia, and sadly currently classified as vulnerable. This goose is an example of hybrid specification, being the result of ancient interbreeding between the Brant goose and the white cheeked goose, some 3.5 million years ago.

The Northern tent caterpillar (Malacosoma californicum pluviale) is a native North American insect. It occurs throughout the southern half of British Columbia, extending as far east as Quebec. In the United States, it is found west of the Cascade Mountains, through Washington and South to Oregon, plus northern Idaho, western Montana and several northeastern states also. It turns eventually into a moth of stout bodied with a wingspan of 25-37 mm and a one year lifespan.

This time lapse video was done like this:

 

Ricoh Capilo R5 on a Tripod, 1 image taken automatically every 10 seconds.

This video was done out of 1300 individual still shots, played back @ 16 frames per second.

 

So the time frame you acutally see during the 81 seconds playback equals 3.5 hours of real time

 

Images were then put into VirtualDubMod and the video was encoded with DIVX Codec

Seven consecutive days during the growth and first bloom of a Lithops flower bud.

The opening/closing of the flower seems to be sunshine-activated. Since after the first two openings there was really bad weather for days, I had to stop the time lapse because the flower did not open again and I did not want to wear out my DSLR with 144 photos a day while nothing happening in front of the lens.

 

10 minutes per frame, 1034 frames total, 30 frames per second in the video. Taken with a Pentax K200D in aperture priority mode (f/32). Trigger: DIY 10-minute timer circuit connected to camera remote input. Camera power supply by wallplug adapter. Nighttime illumination by desktop lamp.

Here we see a huge decaying Giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum), which is also called the Giant Redwood tree and originally hails from Great Britain. The park is a 405-hectare public park in British Columbia, Canada that makes up the northwestern half of Vancouver's Downtown Peninsula, surrounded by waters of Burrard Inlet and English Bay.

This photograph was taken at an altitude of Forty eight metres at 11:43am on a cold and wintry morning, on December 12th 2022, following overnight snow and a temperature of -3 degrees, off Chessington Avenue in Bexleyheath, Kent. Here we see a Black-headed gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus), in flight.

  

They are found in much of the Palearctic including Canada and Europe. In Canada it is called the Common black-headed gull.

The Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus Leucocephalus), derives it's name from the Greek for 'Sea eagle', and the 'bald' denotation actually derives from an older meaning of 'white headed'. Bald Eagles can be up to forty inches in length with a wingspan up to seven and a half feet and can weigh up to 6.3kgs. The females are generally 25% larger than the males.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Eight metres (Sea level) at 19:31pm on Wednesday 17th May 2023 on an unnamed and uninhabited by mankind wilderness, some distance from Dawley Passage Provincial Park and Meares Island in the Alberni-Clayoquot region, just off Tofino, British Columbia in Canada.

  

I was stationed in a seventy year old house I was renting in Campbell Street, Tofino and booked a place on a twenty three feet long Zodiac inflatable in full life saving gear with Remote Passages Marine Excursions at 51 Wharf Street in Tofino. Even here, mankind has begun deforestation of the beautiful landscape.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Two metres, at 13:02pm on Monday 9th January 2023, off Hyde Park Corner and Park Lane A4202 in the grounds of Hyde park, a Grade 1 listed Royal Park (the largest of) of London.

  

Here we see an adult Eurasian coot (Fulica atra), also known as the Common coot or Australian coot, a member of the Rail and crake family, Rallidae.

  

Spanning an area of 350 acres, the park is divided by the Serpentine and the Long water lakes, and was created by King Henry VIII in 1536 as hunting ground. It opened to the public in 1637 and was extensively improved under Queen Caroline in the early Eighteenth century. The Great exhibition for which the Crystal Palace was erected, designed by Joseph Paxton, was also held here.

Photograph taken at 14:01pm on Monday 3rd March 2025 at an altitude of Fifty one metres in the Grounds of Warnham Nature Reserve in Horsham, West Sussex. The Millpond dates back to the 16th Century and parts of the woodland dates back even further to the 13th Century. A beautiful location for a walk, or to sit amongst nature and so see birds and butterflies in their natural habitat.

  

Here we see a European goldfinch or simply the goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis), a small passerine bird in the finch family that is native to Europe, North Africa and western and central Asia. It has been introduced to other areas, including Australia, New Zealand, Uruguay and the United States.

Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus Leucocephalus), derives it's name from the Greek for 'Sea eagle', and the 'bald' denotation actually derives from an older meaning of 'white headed'. Bald Eagles can be up to forty inches in length with a wingspan up to seven and a half feet and can weigh up to 6.3kgs. The females are generally 25% larger than the males.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Zero metres (Sea level) at 19:05pm on Wednesday 17th May 2023 on an unnamed and uninhabited by mankind wilderness, some distance from Dawley Passage Provincial Park and Meares Island in the Alberni-Clayoquot region of British Columbia in Canada.

I was stationed in a seventy year old house I was renting in Campbell Street, Tofino in British Columbia in Canada. In this image I was seated at the front of a twenty three feet long Zodiac inflatable in full life saving gear.

  

This is a magnificent full grown adult American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus), medium sized bears native to North America, and found in abundance in the Yukon territory and Alaska and remote island in British Columbia such as this. Black bears have a small tail, up to nine inches long foot length and males can weigh up to 250kgs. They have poor long distance vision but excellent smell, and this adult knew we were away in the water before we ever saw it.

This series is part of an ongoing research on visual ways to dissolve pornographic imagery in abstraction and absurd.

 

For the Scrambled series, using video footage downloaded from Internet, I exploit the artifacts, errors, blurs inherent to heavy digital compression and incomplete files.

 

Dozens of snapshots are generated. Here, the creative process in itself rely on selecting the right images : identifiable as pornographic, but somehow deactivated.
