Photograph taken at 11:42am on Wednesday 19th March 2025 at an altitude of One hundred and one metres in the grounds of Scadbury Park nature reserve, located off Old Perry St, Chislehurst BR7 6P, in the borough of Bromley.
It is also a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation. It is over 300 acres, and is part of an extensive wildlife corridor together with Petts Wood and the Jubilee Country Park.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Seven metres at 11.23am on Monday 29th May 2014 off 2903 Ocean Boulevard, Victoria, on the Esquimalt Lagoon Migratory Bird Sanctuary, on the Juan De Fuca Strait, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
The Lagoon is one of seven Migratory Bird Sanctuaries in British Columbia, and an important stopover for birds journeying between North and South America. Visitors include geese and Swans, Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons, plus many other species of birds.
The Great Blue Heron (Ardea Herodias) is a wading bird in the Heron family Ardeidae and found in North America, Central America, the Caribbean and Galapagos Islands. One of the largest of Herons, it has a head to tail length of 01-137 centimetres (36-54 inches) and a wingspan of 187-201 centimetres (66-79 inches). They are found where my family live, and naturally very wary of mankind, flying off as soon as you are within fifty to one hundred yards of them.

Photograph taken at 11.34am on Saturday 6th April 2-24 off Chessington Avenue in my garden on an overcast and blustery morning.
Here we see a surprise visit and a very welcome one from a Male Ring Ouzel (Turdus torquatus), on the red endamgered species list sadly.
The brown coloured female had been in the garden moments earlier, and this male with darker plumage followed, listening for worms before a resident Magpie saw it off.
Ring Ouzels are smaller and slimmer than a Blackbird. Males have distinctive black plumage with a pale wing panel and striking white breast band. The Ring Ouzel is mostly an upland bird, where it breeds in steep sided-valleys, crags and gullies, from near sea level in the far north of Scotland up to 1,200m in the Cairngorms.
Breeding begins in mid-April and continues through to mid-July, with two broods common. Nests are located on or close to the ground in vegetation (typically in heather), in a crevice, or sometimes in a tree.
Storm Kathleen, I believe meant a slight diversion for the pair prior to heading up towards Scotland to nest and breed.

Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus Leucocephalus), derives it's name from the Greek for 'Sea eagle', and the 'bald' denotation actually derives from an older meaning of 'white headed'.Bald Eagles can be up to forty inches in length with a wingspan up to seven and a half feet and can weigh up to 6.3kgs. The females are generally 25% larger than the males.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Six metres at 07:48am on Wednesday 17th May 2023 off Lone Cone Road from the front garden of a seventy year old house I was renting in Campbell Street, Tofino in British Columbia in Canada.
Eastern Raccoons (Procyon lotor) are native to the southern BC mainland, one of many different sub species of Raccoon, but are an introduced invasive species on Haida Gwaii. They were introduced in the 1940s to enhance the local fur trade, but they represent a significant threat to ground-nesting marine birds. My family refer to them as 'Trash Panda's', but I love them. They are also known as Racoons, Coons or Common Racoons

Photograph taken at an altitude of Two metres at 20:42pm on Thursday 25th May 2023 around sunset at Patricia Bay , a body of salt water that extends East from the Saanich Inlet and forms part of the North Saanich shoreline in the District of North Saanich in British Columbia. It features a beautiful park which is at the south end of the Scoter Trail. Formerly known as Union Bay, the bay was named after Princess Patricia of Connaught, daughter of the Duke of Connaught who was Governor General in 1912.
The park has ties to transportation and the waterfront, and their pivotal role in the development of North Saanich. It is also tied to the development of the Victoria International Airport and military aviation efforts during the Second World War. In 1937, the airport was developed as one of six Royal Canadian Air Force Station training facilities on Vancouver Island.
The land was originally settled by the Tseycum First Nation (Union Bay Indian Reserve No.4) , one of four Saanich villages of Southern Vancouver Island in the area and part of the Northern Straits Coast Salish language group.
In the Sencoten langauge Tseycum is spelled Wsikem and means Land of Clay. The languages spoken include Lkwungen, Malchosen, Semiahmoo, SENĆOŦEN andT’Sou-ke and in 2023 the Chief is Tanya Jimmy, who was elected in July 2019. The Tseycum people have five reserves located at:
Bare Island 9, Goldstream 13, Pender Island 8, Saturna Island 7 and Union Bay 4.

The Bald Eagle(Haliaeetus Leucocephalus), derives it's name from the Greek for 'Sea eagle', and the 'bald' denotation actually derives from an older meaning of 'white headed'.Bald Eagles can be up to forty inches in length with a wingspan up to seven and a half feet and can weigh up to 6.3kgs. The females are generally 25% larger than the males.

The Millpond dates back to the 16th Century and parts of the woodland dates back even further to the 13th Century. A beautiful location for a walk, or to sit amongst nature and so see birds and butterflies in their natural habitat.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Five metres at 07:52am on Wednesday 17th May 2023 off Lone Cone Road from the front garden of a seventy year old house I was renting in Campbell Street, Tofino in British Columbia in Canada.
Eastern Raccoons (Procyon lotor) are native to the southern BC mainland, one of many different sub species of Raccoon, but are an introduced invasive species on Haida Gwaii. They were introduced in the 1940s to enhance the local fur trade, but they represent a significant threat to ground-nesting marine birds. My family refer to them as 'Trash Panda's', but I love them. They are also known as Racoons, Coons or Common Racoons

Robert Browning once said “A Man’s reach should exceed his grasp. Or what is a heaven for?” As an amateur photographer I have often longed to effectively photograph faraway places, faraway birds, the moon and faraway animals. The Nikon P1000 opens up the possibility to do so.
This particular Point Of View (POV) image puts the viewer into the perspective of the photographer shooting from the top of the Albuquerque J Robert dam to popular hotels in Old Town Albuquerque 9.2 miles away on a Nikon P1000. Many Breaking Bad fans will recognize the dam from past episodes of the tremendously popular video series. Hotel Albuquerque hosted many Breaking Bad parties and media events in the show’s heyday.
Technically per Wikipedia: “A point of view shot (also known as POV shot, first-person shot or a subjective camera) is a short film scene that shows what a character (the subject) is looking at (represented through the camera). It is usually established by being positioned between a shot of a character looking at something, and a shot showing the character's reaction (see shot reverse shot). The technique of POV is one of the foundations of film editing.”

For the past 2 days I have been testing my new Nikon P1000 camera out in my yard and neighborhood. I am very impressed. You have to haul a 3.5 lb camera and a hefty tripod. I used my Manfrotto 3130 tripod with a fluid head that weighs 8 lbs. The fluid head facilitates video pans, but even it drifted down while shooting at far out lengths such as 3000 mm indicating a need for counter weights such as sand bags or a heavier duty tripod. You also have to use a remote control for shutter depressions and controlling the camera. I purchased a Nikon ML-L7 remote which did the job very well.
The Coolpix P1000 does not use .nef for raw files. It uses .nrw format. I could not use Adobe PS CS6 to read these files. I started saving files in both raw and jpg formats instead of raw exclusively as I do on my other Nikon DLSR camera. I had to download Nikon Capture NX-D which came with Nikon Picture Control and Nikon Transfer 2 which I have not tested yet. I Downloaded and installed a Nikon NRW codec. I could not see NRW files in Photoshop CS6, Adobe Bridge CS6 or View NX V2. But I could see them in Capture NX-D, Windows photos, Win Explorer, Win movie Maker, Photo Gallery and Win Photo Viewer.
It pays to purchase a 77 mm clear filter cover because the possibility of scratching the huge lens looms very high.
I have not tested the bird or moon modes on the P1000 yet, but they look promising on paper.

This is a Blue Morpho (Morpho Peleides) butterfly, one of the largest butterflies in the world with a wingspan up to eight inches. Light reflects from the microscopic scales on their wingbacks, giving a vivid iridescent appearance, and they are mainly seen active and in flight, resting only briefly. They are found in the tropical rainforests of Latin America from Mexico to Columbia.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Two hundred and forty metres at 15.14pm on Tuesday May 7th 2024 off South Street in Rhayader, Mid-Wales from the Low level professional photography hide at Gigrin Farm feeding station.
The Red Kite (Milvus Milvus) is a medium sized bird of prey (Raptor) in the Accipitridae family, and was saved from national extinction by a long running protection programme. It has now been successfully re-introduced into England and Scotland, and Wales, and they are listed under schedule 1 of the Wildlife and Countryside act, currently with a green status.
They can reach 66cms in length with up to a 195cms wingspan, and there around 4,600 breeding pairs in the UK in 2024.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Zero metres at 12.17pm on Monday 29th May 2014 off 2903 Ocean Boulevard, Victoria, on the Esquimalt Lagoon Migratory Bird Sanctuary, on the Juan De Fuca Strait, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
The Lagoon is one of seven Migratory Bird Sanctuaries in British Columbia, and an important stopover for birds journeying between North and South America. Visitors include geese and Swans, Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons, plus many other species of birds.
The Great Blue Heron (Ardea Herodias) is a wading bird in the Heron family Ardeidae and found in North America, Central America, the Caribbean and Galapagos Islands. One of the largest of Herons, it has a head to tail length of 01-137 centimetres (36-54 inches) and a wingspan of 187-201 centimetres (66-79 inches). They are found where my family live, and naturally very wary of mankind, flying off as soon as you are within fifty to one hundred yards of them.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Zero metres (Sea level) at 20:05pm on Wednesday 17th May 2023 on an unamed and uninhabited by mankind wilderness, some distance from Dawley Passage Provincial Park and Meares Island in the Alberni-Clayoquot region, just off Tofino, British Columbia in Canada.
I was stationed in a seventy year old house I was renting in Campbell Street, Tofino and booked a place on a twenty three feet long Zodiac inflatable in full life saving gear with Remote Passages Marine Excursions at 51 Wharf Street in Tofino.

The females are generally 25% larger than the males.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Four metres at 12.20pm on Monday 29th May 2014 off 2903 Ocean Boulevard, Victoria, on the Esquimalt Lagoon Migratory Bird Sanctuary, on the Juan De Fuca Strait, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
The pathways here are strewn with driftwood and foliage that provide food and nesting material for the many species of birds which visit. The Lagoon is one of seven Migratory Bird Sanctuaries in British Columbia, and an important stopover for birds journeying between North and South America. Visitors include geese and Swans, Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons, plus many other species of birds.

This is a Marsh frog (Pelophylax ridibundus), a species of frog which are native to continental Europe and Western Asia. They are not a native species in the UK but were introduced in Kent in the 1930's.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Four metres (Sea level) at 19:40pm on Wednesday 17th May 2023 looking towards an eagles nest on unnamed and uninhabited by mankind wilderness, some distance from Dawley Passage Provincial Park and Meares Island in the Alberni-Clayoquot region of British Columbia in Canada.

I was stationed in a seventy year old house I was renting in Campbell Street, Tofino in British Columbia in Canada and booked a place on a twenty three feet long Zodiac inflatable in full life saving gear with Remote Passages Marine Excursions at 51 Wharf Street in Tofino. This impressively large nest was high up in a tall tree on a tiny island.

Eastern Raccoons (Procyon lotor) are native to the southern BC mainland, one of many different sub species of Raccoon, but are an introduced invasive species on Haida Gwaii. They were introduced in the 1940s to enhance the local fur trade, but they represent a significant threat to ground-nesting marine birds. My family refer to them as 'Trash Panda's', but I love them. They are also known as Racoons, Coons or Common Racoons

The iRiver, Creative Labs, iPod with Video, PSP, Gizmondo, Archos, Samsung, Epson and an Asian MPEG4 or DivX video and music playback devices. Screen sizes range from 2.5" to 7".
The problem for these things is getting content on them. Downloading via bittorrent is slow, plus you get annoying letters from your ISP too. CODECs for TiVo are DRMed and DVD's don't like to be ripped thanks to CSS. Check out my video blog - www.telepixels.com for what I think is the missing link.

This was the largest file as a 115Mb 1280x720 MOV file, 46sec, then converted to a 13Mb MP4 file, which you see here, using Play Memories Home, by Sony..
now part of the combined 871Mb movie on the WD MyCloud drive.. @

Drag-and-Drop - Web App
The drag-and-drop process for the My Cloud Home web app is a function of the personal
computer operating system and Internet browser. Follow these basic steps to perform this
function:
1. Witin the My Cloud Home web app, navigate to the location in the Files &
Folders section that is to be the file or folder destination for the drag-and-drop
process.
2. Navigate to the location on the personal computer where the source file or
folder is located for the drag-and-drop process.
a. For Microsoft Windows use File Explorer, for macOS use Finder.
3. Click on the file or folder to drag-and-drop, and hold down the mouse button.
4. Drag the selected file or folder to the destination selected within the My Cloud
Home web app and let go of the mouse button.
5. The selected file or folder should copy or move to the chosen destination.

The My Cloud Home desktop app uses the functionality within Windows File Explorer and
macOS Finder to search, move and view files. Therefore, the the drag-and-drop process is a
function of the Graphical User Interface (GUI) of Windows and macOS. These are the basic
steps to drag-and-drop content to My Cloud Home:
Note: With the My Cloud Home desktop app, the drag-and-drop process can be reversed, and
content can be moved from the My Cloud Home device to a personal computer.
