This is the former bus #31 from the Cloverleaf Local School District in Ohio. This was a 1974 International Loadstar with a Superior body. On the right of bus #31 is bus #40 which is a 1981 International S-Series with a Superior body. Note that both of these buses have a higher stance indicating that they were optioned with the heavier springs and axles. Photo by Gavin Berwald.

I don't recall seeing a 33 this old for a considerable amount of time, this one was parked in the garage of what looked like a semi abandoned house, it certainly hasn't moved for a little while, the DVLA suggests that the SORN expired on the 18th of October last year, unless it was genuinely on the road up until then and someone cashed the tax in, maybe due to illness or the car breaking down, but I find it hard to believe it was running that recently. A very crisp design, and one of only half a dozen Gold Cloverleafs still around apparently, I think it deserves something better than this...

A scanned image of a print from a slide I bought many years ago. It is from 1975 when it was still active and run by Norfolk & Western. It has been converted into a popular Mexican restaurant. UPDATE: The restaurant is now a breakfast & lunch place that does very well.
André Citroën started business as a gear manufacturer and it was not until 1919 that he produced his first car. The 5CV was introduced in 1922 with the Cloverleaf bodywork, an 856cc engine with a detachable cylinder head, quarter-elliptic springs all round and coil ignition. Though somewhat slow and lacking good brakes, the Cloverleaf gained its reputation for being virtually indestructible.
