Alfa Romeo launched the Alfasud Sprint in 1976 at the Turin Motorshow, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro like the Alfasud, whose mechanicals it was based on, it had a lower, more angular design, featuring a hatchback (although no folding rear seats). The Alfasud Sprint was assembled together with the Alfasud in the Pomigliano d'Arco plant, in the South of Italy, hence the Sud name.In May 1978 the Alfasud Sprint underwent an update and the engine choice enlarged to 78 bhp 1.3 (1,350 cc) and a 84 bhp 1.5 (1,490 cc) with the 1286cc unit dropped., one year later Veloce models were offered with output increased to 85 and 94 bhp.
In February 1983 Alfa Romeo updated all of its sports cars; the Sprint received a major facelift, now known simply as the Sprint the Alfasudand Veloce titles being dropped from the model name. The Sprint also received a platform upgrade, which was now the same as that of the Alfa Romeo 33; this entailed modified front suspension, brakes mounted in the wheels instead of inboard like on the Alfasud, and drum brakes at the rear end. Three models made up the Sprint range: 1.3 and 1.5, with engines and performance unchanged from the Alfasud Sprint Veloce, now titled Alfa Romeo Sprint 1.5 Quadrifoglio Verde or Cloverleaf in the UK market. Visual changes included a new grille, headlamps, wing mirrors, window surrounds and C-pillar ornaments. Bumpers went from chrome to plastic, and large plastic protective strips were added to the body sides; both sported coloured piping, which was grey for 1.3 cars, red for the 1.5 and green for the 1.5 Quadrifoglio (Cloverleaf)

The Alfa Romeo 33 was introduced in 1983 as a replacement for the Alfa Sud as a five door hatchback, designed by Ermanno Cressoni of Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, along with a Sportswagon (Estate) designed by Pininfarina
The model received a mild facelift in 1986, Exterior alterations were limited to indicator lens colour changes and minor amendments to grill and bumpers. A 1.8 litre diesel engine was also introduced in some markets.
A second facelift in 1990 saw the release of the Second Series featuring a heavily restyled front and rear ends in line with the new Alfa family look.
At the top of the revised range was the new four wheel drive version, introduced as the Permanent 4 which was renamed to Q4 starting from 1992. Late production 33s also do not suffer from the rust problems of their ancestors, as their frames are galvanized in the manner Alfa Romeo introduced with the 164.

1989 Alfa Romeo Spider Green Cloverleaf.
Anglia Car Auctions, King's Lynn -
"Chassis number: 002486743. 1,955cc. This Quadrifoglio Alfa Romeo has been owned by the vendor for fifteen years. During his ownership the car has never been out in the wet, welded or sprayed. Only used during the summer months and stored under a cover in the garage. The vendor advises that since 2007 it has failed only one MoT in 2009 for a headlamp not working. New parts and works undertaken during the last fifteen years include hand-made bespoke leather upholstery, engine mounts, radiator, clutch master and slave cylinder, brake master cylinder, all brake pipes, high torque starter, rebuilt limited slip diff, rear suspension and brakes. An ant-theft system has been installed. Described as driving very well and remaining in lovely condition. Comes with a history and maintenance file including all MoTs back to 1994, many invoices, evidence of SORN each year. The odometer records 74,840 kilometres (46,503 miles)."
Estimate: £9000 to £11,000. Sold for £9180 including premium.
2 taxed and 9 on SORN. I think this is the first Alfa 90 I've seen in the metal. This one still had the glovebox which detaches to become a briefcase in place.
