Down on the east side of the hill. The horizon is near.

I can't look at the sun to take a picture, but on editing there is a rainbow around the sun on the clouds.

Sunrise at the Jupiter Inlet Jetty. No clouds this morning so a minimalist look.

Most of the lake plants have died or are going into hibernation. The grasses are an exception.

Here some late-sunset cirrus mountain wave cloud is picked out against the deepening blue of night.

 

Basically looked out towards Mt Faulkner in the west and thought I'd better take a snap.

 

This is random test shot from the Contax Zeiss G 45/2 Planar 'Frankenzeiss' modded to M-Mount. Lens is dialled in as the 50/2 Summicron - seems about right.

One of my favorite desert lakes, its like an oasis and I can imagine the Indians and settlers who used this land were appreciative of its existence.

L'arc circumzénithal est un phénomène lumineux qui se forme dans les cirrus ou les trainées de condensation.

 

Il a l'apparence d'un arc-en-ciel qui se forme au zénith et qui est courbé dans la direction opposée au soleil. Il est créé par les rayons du soleil qui se réfractent sur des cristaux de glace orientés horizontalement, le plus souvent dans les cirrus. Généralement il ne forme qu'un quart de cercle centré au zénith du même côté que le soleil. Ses couleurs vont du bleu à l'intérieur au rouge à l'extérieur. L'arc ne peut se former que lorsque la hauteur du soleil ne dépasse pas 32°, la hauteur optimum se situant entre 15° et 25°. Il peut apparaitre une vingtaine de fois par an. **source wikipédia**

.....dramatic shades as the sun rises in the east, wind gusting pushing clouds through the sky, I'm amazed how one side of me remains calm while the other is so dramatic.....
