Birches on the steppe meadow on the Jinal ridge east of Kislovodsk. The altitude is about 1330 m above the sea level while the wind speed is over 20 m per second
We missed the heatwave when we came back to Britain but we enjoyed the cooler weather very much. Mostly we avoided rain as even normal signs of a wetting such as these cirrus clouds weren't reliable. I took this one on day 2 of our trip when my daughter and I took the bus to the nearby Tesco. The price was an eye-watering £14 return for a 5 mile journey. For comparison I can take a taxi from my school into Bangkok City Centre which is 3x the distance for less than half the price

This rapidly developing isolated cumulonimbus (thunderstorm) expanded with a spreading anvil. Air temperature was ~90F.
My Reolink Security Cam is seen at top right. I use this wide field camera for weather action on the horizon.
Picture of the day
A day of constantly shifting light quality driven by rapidly changing cloudscapes, one moment blue sky and sunlight, another moment vast, white cloud castles, another moment, menacing, battleship-grey, monolithic clouds. I snapped this standing on the old, humpbacked bridge over the Union Canal, looking up towards Viewforth as more clouds were drifting my way
