Description in English and Dutch
Mr. Monster was taking a leisurely stroll along the canal in Kinderdijk, admiring the magnificent reflections of the clouds in the water. As he stopped to take in the breathtaking view, he began to dream away to the past and found himself learning about the incredible history of water management and windmills in the Unesco area. He was transported back to a time of innovation and discovery, when Dutch engineers perfected the art of controlling the water and safeguarding their land from the ever-present threat of flooding. He saw the development of the windmills from their early days to the 19th century, when they were used to pump water to and from the canals. As he continued to take in the scenery, Mr. Monster knew that he had been granted a unique opportunity to learn about the history of the area and all that it entailed.

In art, a cloudscape is the depiction of a view of clouds or the sky. Usually the clouds are depicted as viewed from the earth, often including just enough of a landscape to suggest scale, orientation, weather conditions, and distance.

We have been in Norfolk over the weekend and I paid a visit to Brancaster Beach to catch the sunset. The clouds were some of the best I have seen for a while but it started to rain soon after I took this shot.

Autumn Cloudscape some weather moving in and sunset created this spectacular sunset in North Carolina.
Busy skies reflected in British Columbia's Muncho Lake.
Was pretty in color (in comments) but thought it made for a nice black and white as well.
Enjoy this first week of 2016!
Another from a truly memorable morning on the Snowdon Horseshoe. This was the view from part way up the climb up to the start of the Crib Goch ridge, looking straight down to Llyn Teryn with a section of the Miner's Track to its right. In the distance you can see Cnicht, the 'Welsh Matterhorn' - though it doesn't look like it from this angle. When I set off that morning the sky was cloudless, but as I climbed up the clouds moved in quite spectacularly, and wreathed the hills in turbulent mist. I got the best of the conditions early on, and it made for a really special day.
