While up at my favorite vantage point to watch the sunset, I met a runner who just stumbled upon this view by chance. She stopped to enjoy the sky and chat. It's amazing to know there are so many other people in this world who pause for beauty.

Cloud Gate is a highly polished reflective steel sculpture that is inspired by liquid mercury. The curved, mirror-like surface of the sculpture provides striking reflections of visitors, the city skyline (particularly the historic Michigan Avenue "Streetwall") and the sky.
I have to admit that I sort of borrowed the idea behind this one from Landon(bksecret).
It's a vertical stitch of six images with a little post work done in Photoshop on the color, saturation and contrast. I'll have to try this some again when I get the chance.

You can see the clouds getting thicker as you look East (the right side of the picture). Yes, these clouds were spread all over people's driveways as snow just a few days later...
The streaks at the top of the frame are raindrops falling toward me, which were lit up by nearby stage lights at the zoo. For the astronomers in the audience, this illustrates why meteor showers appear to radiate from a point in the sky: they are approaching from a far distance, the vanishing point, and depending on various motions, that point is in a different place in the sky. Drivers in snow can see the same thing.
The Neurath power plant near Grevenbroich, Germany, produces 2219 MW electrical power combusting brown coal. It contributes essentially to energy production and climate - locally and globally.
