This image was one of three that I submitted for the Peak Photography 2011 competition run as part of the Buxton Festival held during the month of July. The theme of this years competition was 'fire and light' and attracted entries from national and international photographers coming from Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, London, Macedonia and Canada. With some serious photographers submitting and although I did not make the final placing for prizes, I was pleased to make the top fifteen finalists.
This image along with the other fourteen finalists will now be displayed alongside the finalists of the Poetry competition – held at the same time, in the University Devonshire Dome building in Buxton, Derbyshire until the 27th July when the festival comes to an end.

This small, still lake in Michigan rendered reflections as wet gobs of oil paint on canvas. Life imitating art at a most basic level.

Another shot of the Sunset captured this evening enroute from Miami to Bogota. Somewhere over the Caribbean. This cloud really cooperated with being in the right place at the right time.
Shot on a Canon EOS T2i 550d with a Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 lens. Processed on an iPad using Filterstorm.

This was taken last fall on a trip out to Jenny Jump State Observatory in NJ. It's incredible that you can get good star viewing just a little over an hour from NYC. This shot was taken as I wait for the clouds to move past our viewing made for a nice effect.
Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.
Another photo of British Airways flight 288 departing against a gorgeous sunset. Kinda hard to see it against the clouds but I like how the jetwash distorts the light.
