I noticed these strange clouds in the sky Friday morning before sunrise. They seemed to glow, almost as bright as the half moon. Turns out they’re a pretty rare phenomenon that can happen as high as 50 miles up in the earth’s mesosphere! www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Rare-noctilucent-clouds-ap...

In meteorology, a cloud is an aerosol comprising a visible mass of minute liquid droplets, frozen crystals, or particles suspended in the atmosphere above the surface of a planetary body.
The streaks at the top of the frame are raindrops falling toward me, which were lit up by nearby stage lights at the zoo. For the astronomers in the audience, this illustrates why meteor showers appear to radiate from a point in the sky: they are approaching from a far distance, the vanishing point, and depending on various motions, that point is in a different place in the sky. Drivers in snow can see the same thing.
