101 Oil Studies, No. 10
Objective: Flat tone test; high thin clouds following "Moon and Morning Sky" photograph in my "Sky and Space" album.
Painted in 2 sessions: 02 Feb and 09 Feb 2024
Pigments (Winsor & Newton Artists' oil colour: Cerulean blue, lamp black, titanium white. Mediums: Gamsol, Oleogel.
Ampersand Gessobord, 12.7 x 12.7 cm (5 x 5 inches)
Process: In this miniature study, the original wash was very light, so I tried painting the sky as negative spaces between the clouds, later adding additional gestural strokes of white in the clouds.
After Action Evaluation: Clouds are way heavier than in "Moon and Morning Sky" photo. Deeping the blue initially, then adding clouds in thin glazes seems to be the better approach.
For some reason, this photo gets the highest views, I'm pretty proud of it, but i think I've done better photos. Anyway, it was a pretty amazing sunset, such amazing natural light to work with as well.
Crimson clouds dance ever wary, over the "Poe House" fun and scary. Halloween 2011 installation in Romantic Times region of Second Lifeâ„¢. Touch the house for "Poe Puzzle Challenge" and test yourself against the questions "posed" about the works of Poe. It's fun and harmless, but watch out for the murderous monkey (hint).
We might not have mountains in Houston but we have some pretty impressive clouds. Taken with my iPhone 5 using the Hueless app.

I was out with a friend for a photowalk for the first time in... well, over a year I guess.
Turned out better than expected I think, and I've got more coming!
The last of three. May the light of this new year bring forth warmth, abundance and and clear sight in this time of great change. This beautiful star of ours provides us with all we need. Let it not blind us to the equally powerful Darkness. Please dress in black. Peace.

I was driving home yesterday when I saw this in the field. It had rained really badly, but there were some clouds left in the sky. The sun was shining really bright behind the clouds and it resulted in these awesome sun rays. I was like I HAVE to shoot this. Even my mom recognized the awesomeness of this shot so she drove back a bit so that I could take this shot. I must say that I had hoped for it to be a better shot, but in the end I still like it a lot :)
Actually it's an HDR from three exposure created using the auto exposure bracketing.
