Haleakala National Park, Maui, Hawai'i
View from Haleakala Volcano (alt. 10,023 ft / 3,055 m). Haleakala means "House of the Sun" in Hawaiian language.

Despite the fact that I've just done pretty good shoots, a sunset and sunrise; both of which produced a pretty darn good pic, i've decided to dig a little further back (only by a day or two!) for today's pic. On friday i went for a random hour-and-a-half drive round the countryside near my folks place, and came across this tree., i'm so glad that the sun decided to hid behind some clouds and give me a nice glow show.

Right as the sun went down a number of these bright orange clouds appeared over the horizon. This photo was taken at one of the viewpoints for the Golden Gate Bridge. Everyone else with a camera was photographing people or the bridge.
Steam clouds from Fiddlers Ferry powerstation hanging in the freezing air,catching the golden light of the coming sunset.

Anvil cloud at the leading edge of a violent monsoon thunderstorm. The light is completely natural--the glow inside the cloud comes from lightning and the sun. The anvil cloud rose so high in the sky that it captured the last rays of the setting sun long after everything else in the land was darkened and in silhouette.
Note how the top of the anvil cloud looks hazy and out of focus; it is not, this is caused by upper level winds ripping apart the clouds at the top f the 'stack' or anvil. The wind erases the textbook 'billowing' margins of the cloud, causing the distinctive blurring effect.

On our way back from dinner, we noticed how super cool the clouds were so I hopped out and got my shot for the day.
Great clouds at sunset in Cliffwood Beach, New Jersey. I know it's probably not a lenticular cloud at the top of the photo, but it sure does look like it.
I thought it was time to add another Cloud texture to my set. :)
