Four kilnformed glass capstones placed on top of 6’ tall gabions used as entrance markers to Willamette Park in Portland, Oregon. Installed in August of 2017, the entry markers were designed by Mayer/Reed. Each blue and clear glass capstone measures 24” x 24” x 4-9/16”, weighs over 210 pounds, and was placed on top of metal and rock gabions built by Steel + Timber. Glass fabrication by Bullseye Studio.

Close up of springbok puzzle. A hard puzzle...probably the hardest one I have done...but pieces fit well and they are tight, very thick cardboard...this is a vintage puzzle.
(Very) close-up image of the heat-part of our heater in our living room. I don't know what the material is that separates the flames from us, but it's quite strong (not to mention hot at the range at which I took this picture, which was about 1 cm).

Hammarbya (Malaxis) paludosa - Bog Adder's Mouth Orchid
A close up view of one of the rarest native orchids in Alberta (and perhaps in all of North America). These have non-resupinate (i.e., upside down) flowers... so the green and white striped floral segment is actually the lip. The other dominant feature of this flower is its size... about 2mm across!
These are almost impossible to find because they are so small, plus they are exactly the colour of the moss they live in, and they always seem to be only found when you are standing in water. You have to get wet to get a good view of these. Once you do see one, you cannot look away, or it is often difficult to refind the same plant!
Needless to say, a very challenging plant to photograph.
It was a good year for H. paludosa at the Wagner Natural Area this year. We found more than 20 flowering plants scattered between 5 different locations.

Transition Progress at this point: 9.5 months HRT: Estrogen since 8/1 (9.5 months; 5 on injections [with no spiro]--31 so far), progesterone since 3/25/2018 (2.5 months). DHEA (10mg/d) to raise libido a bit (since 4/2018). 6X Biotin/day for fingernails (since 1/17--4mos). Full-time female since 9/15/2017 (8 months). Publicly out as trans since 10/11 (7 months). Legally female since 12/21 (5.5months). One semester (8 sessions) of group speech therapy classes taken at GW Speech Clinic (since 2/22). Weight down to 145lbs (52 down from 197, but 10 up from my low of 135). Hair removal includes 43 electrolysis sessions [since 4/2017] totaling 30.5 hours; 31 laser hair removal sessions (since 9/2016: 54 area treatments: 17/16/14/13/9 mouth/goatee/face/neck/armpits, 7 legs/chest/ears, 6 Brazilian); and bi-weekly at-home IPL on arms since 6/17 (11 months). Have seen endo/primary therapist 6X, and 4 other therapists 13X--Started mood stabilizer Lamictal (4/13, one month ago). Latisse for eyelash lengthening since 4/17 (1 year). 2 dental implants, Zoom teeth whitening, pierced ears, dyed/layered hair (no haircuts for 3.25yrs--since 1/2015), hypertrophic scars on arms & chest removed. Facial Feminization Surgery consults continuing. Female wardrobe replacement up to over 924 items. Total transition expenditures now over $19,950 at this point.
