It might look identical to the grey version, but there have been some improvements. The air scoop doesn't exist in blue, so I made use of some weird racer parts I had nearby.
Benny was initially a bit put out when he was told he had to recycle his old '80's technology, however he soon managed to make the most of it.
I've decided to make a robot for my Spaceship and Walker set. The Ambassador Droid is a man made robot with a hovering capabilities. It has a green eye, lights on each side of it's head, and it has a meter on it's chest. The robot has 20 pieces.
I hope you like it
1991’s Aerial Intruder from the Blacktron II fraction enters the LEGO City!
The ‘Big’ ship from a fan favorite (myself decidedly included) sub-theme is actually not all that big compared to the other Space sub-themes’ flagships. This ship checks the majority of my criteria for what made an excellent spaceship play set as a kid!
Great color scheme and cool large transparent elements?
Blacktron 2 has arguably the best + printed large windshield!
Detachable base with usable interior space?
The center of the ship is large when opened and has an aft storage compartment. While tight when loaded with cargo, great when side-builds are deployed
Dropship/Escape Pod?
Two of the best designed simple ships that deploy from the sides, that are also designed to be compatible with the rest of the sub-theme! So simple and genius
And a bonus jetpack element that is classic
Rover?
Two! Yes, super simple, but very standard for the time.
Action features?
The simple rover launch action definitely suffices.
Droid/Robot?
Not for this faction, but I believe that’s because they were outlaws. Correct me if I’m wrong?
Yes, I’m a really big fan of this old spaceship. Any detractors, like having 5 pilot-able options with only two minifigs can be understood with all their buddies they’d have to break from the Space Police II
This Absolute Classic brings me to the conclusion of my look back at some of my favorite LEGO from the ‘90s. I’m sure I’ll do more shoots with these sets in the future, but I’ve got a ton of contemporary sets to showcase for now and a large MOC in progress.
What did you think of this ship? Did you have it? Does it hold up today?

When the Giant Galactic Glass (3G) company produced their windscreen #13252 in Transparent Yellow, designers across galaxy were very excited. 3G's product allowed unparalleled bandwidths of light to pass through, creating amazing experiences for users of mobile space stuff (or that's what their brochures said). Llwyngwril Systems were commissioned to use the new component in a surface vehicle. The Design Director crossed the car park to shed where the vehicle design team were based with heavy heart and this rover was the result.
The rover featured large balloon tyres and suspension with big springs and a long range of travel. This enabled it to traverse the roughest, rockiest craters on the lunar surface. Two large floodlights were mounted on the front of the rover, along with twin bull-bars, in case of a cattle stampede (On the moon? Really?). A radar was also mounted on the front of the cabin. This last piece of equipment was essential.
The vehicle's designers were very afraid of the large, expensive canopy being damaged. They decided to mount it in a manner that would protect it from flying rocks and other debris, though this did result in a somewhat restricted view for the driver. A second crewman sat in the back to help the driver find his way over rugged terrain, at high speed.
The rover was never popular with its crews, despite its high speed, comfortable ride and spacious, pressurised cabin. The driver's restricted view resulted in frequent crashes. As there were no cup holders, mugs of English Breakfast and Yorkshire tea were spilled all around the cabin. If you've ever spilt tea in your car, you'll know that it will smell like bad cheese for weeks afterwards. Crews were forced to either drink their tea black or wear their spacesuits with the helmets closed to keep the cheesy smell out.

As soon as I saw this windscreen on the Lego Movie "Spaceship!", I knew exactly which way round it really should have gone...
Classic Space - Benny's Cruiser, Cruiser, CRUISER! After the ending of the Movie Benny slimmed down his SSS to about half the size and weight while upgrading two of the engines. He now has a sleeker "Cruiser" that is twice as fast. He is currently working on another project with the rest of SSS but further information is not available at this time.
Side note: This is about half of the SSS set. Project #2 will be started soon.
I've build this very cute robot, with instructions from the Idea Book 200. There's a bunch of very cool bots in this book.
Hmm, so another relatively large build just one week after a battleship. Must be a record for something......
Anyways, welcome to Okapanochie CS space OPS, which is a major CS operations and divisions center here on Earth. It was originally an American missile base in Missouri, but, of course, that was some time ago. It now is a major hub of for the logistics division for the CS fleet.
Yeah, so this has an interesting back story. I was designing a bomber aircraft, and the next thing I new, I happened to push together a few slope elements, and realized that it looked a bit like rock work. Yeah. I had always been inspired by LukeClarenceVan's Launch Facility, which is clearly was translated into this creation.
Benny was initially a bit put out when he was told he had to recycle his old '80's technology, however he soon managed to make the most of it.
You better watch your back, Jim, or else somebody'll conk you on the head and steal your starship before you know what hit you. KHAAAANNN!!!!!

My second entry for JerryBuildsBricks‘s #jbbclassicremake challenge!
This time I’m back to space with the revamp of the classic 6950 - Mobile Rocket Transport set. I kept all the functions, the rear section is steered by a knob at the end, the cabin can hold 3 figs, there are 2 ladders on the sides which can be lowered and of course you can launch the big rocket at any time 😉 And You can still go offroad with it
1993’s Deep Freeze Defender from Ice Planet 2002 enters the 2022 LEGO City!
It’s a particularly cold winter day today, take a look at this retro ice-themed SPACESHIP!
Honestly, this large spaceship may be my favorite from LEGO’s Space theme. It checks every box for me: Excellent color scheme, detachable base of operations, simple smaller “escape ship”, rover(s), useable interior space, and great action features!
My only critique for this set is that there is no droid, built up or mini-fig. Unless you consider the small satellite/Superlaser a droid? It roughly works in height.
I had this back in the day, super excited to have it back!

Inspired by New Elementary's new article on the history of Peter Reid's M364 Space Turtle, I decided to give the cute little fellow an upgrade. Instead of building it a new gun, or building it in a new color, I reworked the structure, using parts that were not available when it was first designs, such as Plate, Modified 1 x 1 Rounded with Handle. The turtle turned out bigger than I expected, but more posable. Turtle Design belongs to Peter Reid.
(No this isn't Tekka Croe's stream). After receiving some enlightening critique on the presentation, I decided to take some darker shots. Hopefully I didn't destroy any eyes with the previous shots.......

Backstory
"The APC-3 (Atmosphere Penetration Class 3) colony shuttle is the preferred vehicle of choice among Space colonies on distant planets. Developed as a joint effort between Porro Industries® and Kokimiyoi Inc.® this craft maintains a modest balance between functionality and style. It's aerodynamic design and advanced armor is perfect for entering planets with unpredictable atmospheres, thrusting aside foreign gases and air born chemicals that would normally harm the outsides of other ships. This paired with it's affordable price (16 Billion) makes it a perfect craft for a new colony."
Oh yeah and if anyone wants that logo I threw together have at it
It was the year 1979 when LEGO launched one of the sets that became among the most iconic in the AFOL world: the 928 set.
The Classic Space theme was launched just a year earlier in 1978 and this set became a legend because it represented the most beautiful and largest spaceship in the entire fleet. It is incredible to think of the success that this set of only 338 pieces has had if we compare it to those on sale today, but in those days we were children who dreamed of having this box and our best memories are linked to it.
In '79 I was just 5 years old and I have never been able to have this box, too expensive for my parents, but I have always dreamed of it looking at it in the catalogs. Finally as an adult I looked for it and managed to buy it!
All this premise was used to introduce my new work: the Galaxy Explorer SDR-926! This year I am 10 years old as AFOL and I thought about making mocs that have a special meaning for me. The first of these was the desire to make a spaceship of some importance! SDR-926 wants to be a tribute to the 928 but with very different characteristics and numbers. Number 926 represents the birth of my daughter. The spaceship measures 85 x 75 x 21 cm and is made up of almost 4600 pieces! It took me 5 intense months to make it because it contains several features and functionalities in a single work.
Thank you for watching!
