A pair of former Wisconsin Central SD45s pull a southbound CN freight out of the dip in Vernon Hills on the way towards Chicago on a crisp fall morning in 2003.
Canadian National and Metra would soon begin double tracking this section and today most freights diverge onto the former EJ&E just a bit to the north in Mundelein.
L516 is underway during an afternoon rain. I've been shooting these SD75Is for roughly 30 years, some look better than others but I struggle to get excited about shooting them. However, with the rebuild program continuing to convert them into SD75IACCs I'm trying not to take the "originals" for granted. May 21, 2025.
Eric Stanton - Sweeter Gwen: Captive at Bondage Manor
Vintage Fetish Classics, 2019
Cover Artist: Eric Stanton
This is not a reprint of the 1963 edition issued by Leonard Burtman, in which the publisher cut up the panels and assembled a few out of sequence. This is the perfect re-assembled edition of Eric Stanton's classic, Sweeter Gwen, by Richard Pérez Seves.
It's Stanton's homage to John Willie and his iconic creation "Sweet Gwendoline".
The (few) times I have driven the (correct) route to Fort Bragg, I have passed several places I always mentally note to stop at (one day) to photograph, including this Laundromat.
Tonight the decision very well could have killed me. As I was lollygagging around, photographing the whole place, I was very doubtful of the impending "winter weather warnings" for Charlotte and the surrounding areas. I mean, come on, it has been 70 degrees and hardly ever snows here. Well, it did, I had to drive in the worst conditions of my life. It all very well could have been prevented if the lure of the camera wasn't there. ;)
I turned up very late for this show back in May, but there was still plenty to see. And what about the weather?
A couple sharp looking veterans rest on a side track at Osceola. Despite the Soo heritage of this route, motive power here was all BN/GN this day. September 18, 2015.
A SEPTA local stops to pick up Philadelphia-bound passengers in Folcroft, PA as an Amtrak Northeast Regional blasts past on the neighboring track. Despite the cloudy weather this was the shot I wanted: a set of Silverliner IV's and an AEM-7, both endangered species, together on the Corridor. I botched this one and learned a lesson: even on cloudy mornings, have the shutter set high when shooting on the NEC. I'll leave it up until I get back to repeat the shot.

Rolleicord V, Kodak Portra 160, f22 1/125
Yesterday was supposed to be my last post before a vacation hiatus, but I wanted to share some happy camera-related news before I left. I got back a roll from my Rolleicord and I am glad to report that the film spacing problem appears to have been fixed by disabling the double-exposure lock, just as Barry Yanowitz suggested. Thanks so much, Barry!
See you all in July!
