JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY

The spotlight was focused on a group of Freshmen, in the early fall of '36. This group was the largest class ever to gather within the halls of Calhoun County High School, but it was only a short while until they adjusted themselves to the new surroundings. Filled with anxiety and an ambition so typical of all Freshmen, the class plunged into their studies with the desire to become an active group in carrying forward the ideals and traditions of the school.

In the fall of '37 this same group composed the Sophomore class, with only a slight decrease in number and still the largest class the high school ever had. Already, this class had shown in the previous year, their scholastic and athletic ability, with the largest number on the honor roll and a goodly number on the athletic squads.

The Junior class has been busy this year in activities which will become cherished memories. We have had the pleasure of enjoying parties and other activities, one of which was a skating party.

Found in the outstanding group are three members of the Clarion staff, three boys on the basketball team, and approximately twenty-two members in the band.

Looking forward to our Senior year in which we expect to crown our efforts with achievements in this same group, we hope to find as much fun, excitement, and pleasure as we have found in the past three years.

JUNIOR CLASS PLAY

JUST THE GIRL FOR JIMMY

The Junior play, which was given March 24, was a huge success and everybody who attended enjoyed it immensely. The plot concerned Jimmy McNabe, a young farmer, played by William Burns, and Cynthia Harwood, a girl from the city, played by Irene Fox. The setting was centered about the farm of Pa and Ma Brown, two kind-hearted country people, whose parts were played by William Stump and Jean Arnette.

CFL Class 2200 1,500kV dc/25kV ac overhead 3-car articulated double deck emu No.2219 at Luxembourg city station, 2 May 2018. Alstom built 22 sets of these Coradia Duplex units in 2004-06 and 2009-10; one (No.2207) was partially destroyed in a crash and rebuilt with a new nunber - No.2223. They are similar to SNCF's Z24500 class.

Proving that cheapo models can still be very collectible and realistic, HTI have a small but perfectly formed range of licensed 1/64 models centred around modern Merc and BMW models like this SL-Class. Originally this casting was only available in white but can now be seen in more eye catching colours like this deep blue metallic. Part of the Sainsbury's Motor Mania range which has finally dispensed of the boring Maisto castings. Mint and boxed.

Class 47 no 47975 hauls 323201 through Rugby on 18 February 1993. I think this was the first time I had seen a Class 323 and I'm not sure now what this working was, or where the unit was heading. According to Wikipedia the first 323 "finally entered revenue-earning service on 7 February 1994."

47975 was originally D1723, built by Brush Traction in 1964. It was allocated 47132, but this number was never carried and it was renumbered to 47540 in October 1974. It was renumbered in the Departmental series as 47975 between August 1990 and December 1995, when it reverted to 47540. It was withdrawn in May 1998 and was, for a while, preserved at the Wensleydale Railway, but was scrapped at TJ Thomson of Stockton in April 2016.

Sunday 10th June 2012 at the Epping & Ongar Railway. 31438 arrives at North Weald with its train from Ongar. She seemed in good form mechanically but needed some TLC on her bodywork. Just look at that rust. I had photographed this locomotive on the Mid Norfolk Railway 3 years earlier when her bodywork was in a similar condition. See:-
