Monday 4th June 1984
Note, And No.7 was built by the North British Locomotive Company Limited (works number 16270) in Glasgow, Scotland in 1904 for the Central South African Railway as number 721. The Central South African Railways became part of the South African Railways and Harbours Administration on 31st May 1910, 721 being renumbered 933 in the 1st January 1912 renumbering scheme. After withdrawal from service it was purchased by the President Steyn Gold Mining Company Limited as No.7. It was withdrawn from use in the late 1980s but was moved to the Free State Consolidated Gold Mines (Operations) Limited’s FREEGOLD (North) system before passing into preservation
I was advised that there were no locomotives in steam during my visit due the previous Friday being Ascension Day in South Africa and so no reef needed moving

BR class 11 shunter "12049" in the yard at Ropley MPD on 28th June 2012. This shunter is actually 12082 - the real 12049 (see below) was destroyed in the fire of July 2010.
Ex British Railways class 11 no. 12052 at Brechin. Introduced to traffic on 12th April 1949 to an L.M.S. design, withdrawn by British Rail on 13th June 1971. It spent a period in industrial use before entering preservation.
Brechin station, opened on 1st February 1848, rebuilt to its present form by the Caledonian Railway in 1898. Closed to passengers by British Railways on 4th August 1952. Freight traffic lasted until May 1981 when the line from Kinnaber Junction was completely closed. The Caledonian Railway (Brechin) reopened the line as far as Bridge if Dunn in 1993.
