For a couple of occassions this year a pair of class 57s replaced the usuall class 37s or 20s on the Dungeness flask. 6M95 departs from the railhead.
The class 504 Manchester - Bury units were unique in that they operated on a 1200 V dc side-contact third rail system. The line is now part of Manchester Metrolink but for 35-odd years, the 504s faithfully bounced their way between Manchester and Bury, hardly noticed by anyone - until they were gone. Here a set leaves Manchester Victoria on 8 May 1987.

The Civil Air Patrol is an all-volunteer organization that serves as a civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. A Class 46 arrives at Northallerton. By a not entirely certain process of elimination I think that this is 46042 with the 1818 departure from York to Newcastle on 16 July 1978.
