Had never heard of Chowder before this order! Loved creating him. Body, choc mud cake, head, moist vanilla cake. I handpainted the design on his clothes and hat. Happy Birthday Malcom!
Day 48.
Started the day off with the same old schedule, woke up around 9 surprisingly, ate food, showered, and walked to Seth's house. Well I haven't visited Seth lately so I've decided to hang out with him today. We cooked up a good batch of clam chowder made with smoked clams :d it was good.
Seth poses while eating the chowder lol. This was one of the only funny shots he did the rest were all serious and angry looking haha. My favorite was the funny ones.

I typically don't eat potatoes because they metabolize like candy, but sometimes you just need a treat.

A famous Cartoon Network character, Chowder, who eats everything and anything, according to my youngest.
Chowder decoration done free-hand in 4 separate fondant cut-out parts and assembled on the cookies. Final outline done using food marker. Laborious work but the finished look was worth it.
I did not colour the face as my attempt to get the grey-purple face colour turned icky - better in white I thought.
Made with Better than Bouillon clam base, a couple of cans of chopped clams, milk, potatoes and celery.

Fantastic. I just can't raise my expectations high enough to get disappointed. Soup at Moxie is always amazing. The crab meat was flavorful. Even the little green onion garnish tasted bright
Rich and creamy seafood chowder. I would have prefered a shellfish based stock. The fish-stock in this chowder was a bit overpowered by the cream, which while very indulgent, didn't give the stock much of a chance.

Family favorite recipe here.
Ingredients
• 6 cups chicken broth
• Meat from one chicken shredded, bones and skin discarded (rotisserie chicken is great for this)
• 4 cups fresh or frozen corn kernels, 2 cups pureed in a blender or food processor and the other 2 cups left whole (DO NOT USE CANNED CORN.)
• 6 strips bacon, diced (or, however much you want. I usually use a whole pound, but you only need the rendered fat from about 6 strips)
• 1 large onion, finely chopped
• 3 tender celery stalks, diced
• 3 medium russet potatoes, peeled and diced
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 1 cup half-and-half
• 1/2 cup cream (or to taste)
• Cayenne pepper to taste
• Instant mashed potato flakes
Directions
Crisp the bacon in a medium frying pan. Reserve the crisped bacon for garnish. Reserve about 1 tablespoon of bacon fat if you made extra bacon for garnish. Sauté onion and celery in bacon fat until the onions and celery are light brown and tender. Add chicken meat, pureed corn, corn kernels, chicken broth and potatoes to the pot with the onions and celery. Simmer gently but steadily, partially covered, for about 10 minutes or until the potatoes are almost soft. Season with salt and pepper. (The soup can be prepared in advance up to this point, and stored and covered in the refrigerator for up to two days. Return the mixture to room temperature before proceeding.) Stir in the half-and-half and cream, and simmer 10 minutes. To thicken the soup, add plain mashed potato flakes in 1/4-cup increments until the desired thickness is reached. Garnish with the reserved crisped bacon.
I didn't know what to cook for dinner last night so tried something new. It's the time of year for hot soup again - the best thing about cold weather in my opinion!
Dice 3 or 4 thick slices of bacon or pancetta and cook until crisp. Add 1small or half a large diced yellow onion and 1 small clove crushed garlic to pan. Cook until onion is limp. Add 3/4 pound chicken boneless skinless breast, cut into about 1 inch chunks. Cook until chicken is no longer pink. Peel and dice 4 large russet or baking potatoes into about 1 inch chunks. Add to pan and cook for about 5 minutes ovr medium heat, stirring occasionally. Add about 3/4 cup of fresh or frozen corn kernels and 1 quart of chicken stock. Cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes or until potatoes are very tender and begin to break apart slightly. Season with cracked pepper and kosher or sea salt to taste. If you like your soup richer you can add a small amount of milk or cream after the soup is done. You can garnish with snipped chives, a small sprinkle of finely shredded cheese, or top with a teaspoonful of plain yogurt or creme fraiche.

Today was a very tiring Friday as usual, and I almost ate nothing throughout the day except for chocolate at my friends house, a lot of chocolate lol (I'm close to getting sick of it for a few month's now xD). But luckily I got to eat two of my favorite foods for dinner at home, Clam Chowder and Spaghetti mmm..=d love that stuff
