我發現從小到大一直都和台北離不開關係,家人工作愛情,我上臺北整理搬下來的東西產生很多回憶以及即將迎接台南新生活的開始,在移動的過程拍下疑是穿梭時光隧道的光線。

Biography

Born and raised in Tainan (South part of Taiwan), Ryan Chen has his unique perspective of Taiwan. During his childhood, he followed his family and moved to different parts of Taiwan- from a big city to the country side; from a layback living back to a glamourous fast-paced lifestyle. As he started to settle down and fit in, he would be told that the family would need to move again. Ryan spent tremendous amount of time in his childhood traveling from places to places.

After graduating from high school and finished his military service duty, Ryan became the personal assistant to the director of a Taiwanese film. In 2001, he worked in the Arts department of an advertising agency. Only until 2009, he started to tap into photography.

Since 2011, Ryan was back to the same routine as he had in his childhood. Because of his career, family and his beloved girlfriend residing in different places, he became a frequent commuter traveling from south to north every weekend. He was no ordinary commuter. In fact, he projected all of his sentiments into photographing the scenery of his journey. His latest debut The Linear Scenery of Highway is not just about showing off lighting effects and techniques but rather the ink-print of Ryan’s emotional pulse pumped by all those hellos and goodbyes.

Description

The Linear Scenery of Highway

Even though I was born, raised and live in Tainan (South of Taiwan), I have very strong tide with the city of Taipei (North of Taiwan) since I was a child. It is the city where my family, friends, lover and career have resided.

The culture, lifestyle and the pace of living are very different between these two cities. As you travel between the north and the south, it would feel like you are also switching your way of living- the way you talk and the way you walk.

A lot of important personal milestones took place in Taipei and Tainan. And every time as I traveled between these two cities, there was always something to do with changes and a sense of transformation. My feelings and mood were different in every trip. To record my sentiments, I projected them into the lights of scenery I saw during the journey. The Linear Scenery of Highway is the ink-print of my emotional pulse pumped by all those hellos and goodbyes. It’s the ECGs of light and time.

LIFE IS NOT A BOX OF ROSES

CHILDHOOD: My first-grade class on Halloween. (You can see my arm, and that's about it, on the back left. I was a patchwork clown.)

Childhood, U.S.A. This is Sophia horsing around on the playground while waiting for dusk to bring out the fireflies on a lovely June evening ...

Me and my siblings babysat my mom's friend's daughter today. She was so cuuute :)

I kept taking pictures of her all night, but I couldn't get any good ones. This camera has really horrible shutter speed, my only complaint about it. :\

Anyway, I really liked this one.

+1 in comments!

Almost sooc, except I increased the contrast.
