TEXTURE!
I've always known and refurred to sandwiches of this type as "toasted" rather than "grilled". I've confused many people at college about my chosen (or learned) semantics of this sandwich. I've even gotten some bad attitude for it. I didn't realize people could be so touchy about such things.
I love toasted cheese sandwiches (especially with tomato soup!). I now use soy cheese (not bad) and this particular one is made with basil tucked inside as well.
YUM!
Cheese Day, Stop 2 - Plymouth Artisan Cheese. Bonus - they're located in the Calvin Coolidge Historic Site. Lots of stuff to look at in the rain.

After the superb weather for the Broc Branch centenary weekend, Monday 25th June 2012 was what the Irish might call a 'soft' day, with low cloud and drizzle. Here MOB GDe4/4 6003 passes the mediaeval town and castle of Gruyères with the 'Chocolate Train'. The town is most famous for its cheese, but also commands a strategic defensive location and the region is still a centre for army training.
The loco carries a dedicated livery for the train, while the two coaches are luxury saloons built in 1915 and 1911. They made occasional visits from the MOB to this line in the early 20th century, but they're now regulars here as the Chocolate Train runs through to Broc-Fabrique several times a week in summer.

From the BBC program on the 28-year old guy who would eat nothing but grated cheddar cheese for 25 years... I decided to watch this program with a piece of cheese.
30th May 2005: Coopers Hill, Gloucestershire. The Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling and Wake is an annual event held in the month of May at Cooper's Hill, SO892146, near Cheltenham and Gloucester in the Cotswolds region of England. It is traditionally by and for the people of Brockworth - the local village, but now people from over the world take part. The event takes its name from the hill it occurs on. From the top of the hill a round of Double Gloucester cheese is rolled, and competitors race down the hill after it. The first person over the finish line at the bottom of the hill wins the cheese. In theory, competitors are aiming to catch the cheese, but since it has a one second head start and can reach speeds up to 70 mph (112 kmh, enough to knock over and injure a spectator as it did in 1997), this rarely occurs.
Accurate information is hard to come by, but the tradition is at least 200 years old. Suggestions have been made that the event may either date back to Roman times or have been a pagan healing ritual, but there is no evidence for this.

The 'Cheese Sticks', alongside Melbourne's Citylink, close to the Brunswick area between the airport and the city, are quite striking, the tall yellow one to the right represents the significant part gold discovery played in Victoria's development, the red sticks represent wheat...this photo courtesy Choconancy1
