Zero In
Dramatic lines swirl, creating a path towared a bullseye of sorts that hovers over a field of energy-charged color. Steel and concrete provide contrasting textures. It's an abstract of sorts since spatial relationships are hidden. The imagination must work for the story.

A lingering shutter, and second look, a collection of time. Complexity matches the city vibe. People move through and fade into the distance. Buildings stand tall but take on different perspectives. Patterns dance and attract my eye. Colors morph a bit. This is what I catch in my peripheral vision.

The setting sun slowly disappeared behind the fog-covered hills, wrapping the valley in layers of gold and grey. The view from our homestay felt like a dream—soft mist, quiet light, and a calm that words can’t quite capture.
Following the light leads to magical scenes comprised of the most simple elements. Here diagonal sweeps of light and color and elements within the frame make for a dramatic scene in the most unlikely spot. An otherwise dark warehouse turns inviting. Warm and cool join the dance as patterns are born out of repetition. Strong verticals anchor the image and warm and cool hues offer energy. Urban fragments tell a fairly complete story.

Towers rise into the mists of the stormy sky, seemingly reaching for the moon. Bold contrast shows off dynamic lines and patterns that create pathways for my eye to follow and details to explore.

Another day and another story on Ocean Beach. In the elements, three friends gather. They give perspective to the immense sea rolling in. The pale colors of the stormy day add to the atmosphere - make me feel like I"m there again.

"A silhouette bathed in golden sun rays, standing peacefully under the embrace of a timeless tree.""Lost in the golden embrace of nature, where shadows whisper stories and sunbeams weave dreams.
I scouted this location on December 19th, 2020, and returned the next afternoon with both film and digital cameras. I was given an early Christmas present with the fantastic scene that unfolded around me. Many different bird species use this area as a stopover going south for the winter. I have not received my film rolls back from developing. I find it hard to believe that any of those images will surpass this particular digital shot: especially considering the demanding dynamic range and color of this sunset scene. We shall see in the next few weeks when the film scans arrive.
Fields of gold, literally. These wildflowers catching the last warm rays felt like magic. Captured the feeling with Sony and Zeiss. 🌻

Once I knew I would be in St. John's this past weekend, I immediately checked the forecast, the tides, and the time of sunrise. All three were in my favor.
Come Saturday evening, the tides and sunrise remained the same with the exception of one hour time change. The forecast; cloudy with snow developing and 35 km winds. That's doable though not desirable.
I arrived 4:30 at Cape Spear to a slender ribbon of light on the horizon, no cloud, a sky full of stars and not enough wind to fan a candle's flame. I have not known such a calm on the Cape! The stillness was eerie.
I dressed for weather and grabbed my gear. Right, left. Right, left; counting the steps to the lighthouse. As always there were more distractions than steps and the shutter was warming up.
I got my shots but the conditions didn't last. By 9:00 I made my way off the Cape midst cloud, snow and wind.
These visits aren't always lengthy but they are always memorable.

it's been a while since my last post and for my introduction a shot from guadalupe bridge last week. I am having hard time to take this shot if you know the place, this is along the EDSA highway in guadalupe where few people are passing by and not a good place to show your gear.

Experiencing dynamic weather in the rough terrains of Ladakh has been one of my favorite things in the visits done so far.
In this shot - Mountains full of manganese, a stream, some autumn colors in trees and that light in the far mountain ahead .. why I enjoy landscape photography so much :)
Rainy days can gift some magic when I take time to stop and explore. An old parking lot shares colorful shapes, old tire tracks and reflected light posts creating a nice series of patterns, lines and angles. It invites exploration.
