I had to sprint up the slope in Petworth Park as the mist rolled in, knowing the scene would vanish if I hesitated. The colours were all there in front of me, yet the fog softened everything so completely that the photograph looks naturally monochrome. Just as I raised the camera, the birds swept across the top right of the frame, giving me a moment of perfect timing before the landscape disappeared into cloud.
The sheer drama of sunset over the mountains visible from Sarfaranga Cold Desert in Skardu. The light only catches the very highest peaks, painting them gold.
