Based on rate changes, this stamp keeper box dates from sometime between 1963 and 1968. I think it was probably a promotional item based on the small "National Chemsearch" text on the front of the box. It was definitely designed for desktop storage. The lid hinges up to reveal four compartments for holding stamps and a rate guide on the inside of the lid.

Me and my colleagues discovered that the nearby conbini is changing from Shinsengumi to Lawson. I liked Shinsengumi cause it was fresh and cheap and employing Chinese, but Lawson has the ticket machine so I can walk down the road on the 10th of any month to get tickets for the Ghibli Museum... so don't really know what is better...

The changing faces of the Louvre, Paris. I really wanted to visit the Lourve but it was our last night in Paris before we got there.

We had bumped into a couple of English girls that morning that said there was a two hour line so they had skipped going in. When we got there we thought it was closing but it was open until 9:30pm. Nice! There was no line so no wait! We spent about four hours inside. These pictures were taken either side of that journey.

The two images were taken five hours apart. Both consist of three images stitched together in Hugin.

Greetings,

A group of youths, several climate change officers, nearby communities and some

very naughty but active children came together on 9/10/10 (10/10/10 is a holy

day for most Solomon Islanders) to do a little cleaning up of the Mataniko River

bank. We rid the site of garbage and we also plan to sow flowers purely inorder

to beautify the area. In addition, given that the area is quite vast and will

require much effort, a later date is set to launch a huge clean-up action

activity there.

The attached pictures illustrate the small but energetic and lively individuals.

Please keep in mind that unfortunately most Solomon Islanders are camera shy,

so including everybody in the pictures was quite a challenge...:))

Cheers!

We are creating an Art Float for Social Change at Tam Makers, to inspire more people to participate in democracy. Our parade float will reach out to youth and people of color through art, music and technology. We will present this art show on Earth Day, Memorial Day and Fourth of July parades in Marin -- and throughout California this fall, to encourage people to vote in the next election.

This unique art float celebrates mother earth with a carousel of waving hands, pulled by a giant feathered serpent. Performers will tell stories of hope on a stage decorated with scenes of a better world. Large signs will invite people to speak up and vote! You can pitch ideas for social change on the podium, or have them scroll on the news ticker.

This community art project is created by a growing team of 60+ students and makers, led by Fabrice Florin and Geo Monley, co-founders of Tam Makers in Mill Valley. We are grateful to Tam High School for hosting this project and to all our wonderful volunteers and art, civic and educational partners, for helping create this float and present it to a diverse community.

We are building this project from February to April 2018, on Thursday evenings from 4 to 9pm -- or Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm. If you would like to volunteer, please email us at float@tammakers.org.

In other news, I've given up on my 52 weeks project due to heath issues. It's become too difficult to do a self-portrait shoot every week, so I decided just to give it away. I'm still doing them when I feel like it, but I actually think it's working better only doing it when I feel inspired :)

Changing Lives featuring Timbaland's Shock Album Tour with Jojo and Justin Timberlake

Went on a really cool tour today. The eastern span of the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge is being replaced. Some of you may recall that in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake (during the '89 World Series) knocked out a section of this bridge. It only took them a month to replace the failed sections and get traffic moving again into San Francisco. But it's taking them 24 years to open the replacement span.

The tour was on a boat seeing it from beneath, and up on the new bridge deck. Great weather for a tour. Here are some highlights.
