60 people of all ages gathered at the Bailey Head in Oswestry at 10:10 on

10/10/10 and set off for a 4 mile cycle ride around the town, stopping at

various points along the way. Pensioners to children, mountain bikes to racers,

tandems with trailers. We finished at the Red Square in the town centre, and had

tea and coffee and biscuits and fruit at the Memorial Hall. Many smiles, and a

ride around town that would not have taken place without www.350.org and the

local organisation of the evnt by Andrew Tullo. Many thanks to all who took

part!

I’ve Been “Tagged”

1.I’m 52 years old. I will be 53 on September 11. No one knew exactly when my birthday was until that day in 2001 when the world changed.

2.I started working when I was 19 years old for what was then “Penelec” and have seen a lot of changes thru the years to where the company is now a part of FirstEnergy Corp. You can do the math as to how long I have been working. I am fortunate to have survived many downsizing and still work in the same building complex as when I started so many years ago.

3.Much of my career I worked with Harry Hunt (he turned me on to Flickr) so we go way back.

4.I live in rural western Pennsylvania near the Quemahoning Dam on the family homestead. I was fortunate to purchase 18 acres so I have a part of my history. Most of my time now is spent taking care of my 82 year old mother who lives with me.

5.I began taking photographs around 30 years ago when I bought my first camera, a Vivitar 2200SL. I still have the camera and use it occasionally. Also have approximately 3 dozen antique and other cameras.

6.Other activities include golfing and hiking (not as much as I’d like to). Gardening and cooking. Love hot peppers and grow them every summer. Also do woodworking. I remember going to the local High School with my dad when he built furniture in their shop. Must be where I picked that up.

7.Used to ride bicycles with a group of friends. We used to go on rides in Lancaster County, PA and other places. I remember the time Harry and the others left me to die on the trail. (Ask Harry about this. He likes telling the stories).

8.I used to take wedding photos but have gotten out of that and just take portraits and photos for me now. I love the digital cameras so now I can enhance them myself.

9.I’ve met some good friends on Flickr and get so many ideas from the photos posted. I need to get to West Virginia soon to take some photos of all the waterfalls I see.

10.Almost forgot, I started to download my album collection to CD. It will take quite some time to complete but it will be worth it.

Meet the Green Change team, shown here shooting a video interview with Tamra Peters, director of Resilient Neighborhoods.

Green Change invites you to go green and help fight climate change with us. Our climate action network can help you reduce global warming in your own life, with the help of videos, local events, direct engagement and online tools. We inspire people to take climate action in creative ways: we make it feel good to go green, through helpful tips, positive feedback, and social connections.

Our growing team of activists, artists and environmentalists is led by multimedia innovator Fabrice Florin, with team leads Marilyn Price, Al Grumet and many friends and neighbors. We aim to support our partners in the North Bay climate action network.

Many thanks to all our contributos for your wonderful support of Green Change. We are honored to work with you and look forward to helping more people go green together.

Change is coming.

4-5 May 2023, Barcelona. Following the mandate given to the UfM Secretariat by the 2nd UfM Ministerial Conference on Environment and Climate action under the Co-Presidency of Jordan and the European Union (Cairo, 4 October 2021), to support the implementation of the objectives of this Declaration, the 9th Meeting of the UfM Climate Change Expert Group (UfM CCEG), will be the occasion to gather a wide range of actors (UfM members’ representatives, civil society, IFIs, scientific experts…) around different topics, all related to climate action in the Mediterranean region. By organising this event, the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean provides a discussion and networking framework aiming to create and enhance synergies among the different climate‑related actors, and to enrich their exchanges.

The Mediterranean region is one of the world’s climate change hotspots where the rise of temperature by 1.5°C compared to pre-industrial levels, the lower limit not to be surpassed as agreed through the Paris Agreement, is already being exceeded, thus the importance of gathering the Mediterranean actors in order to continue promoting an ambitious climate action.
