Dear 350.org,
At 10/10/10, at 10:00, 100 volunteers cycled 50 km in Izmir, Turkey. Cyclists, from "Persembe Aksamı Bisikletçileri - PAB" (in English it is called "Thursday Night Cyclists") gathered at Bostanlı Port, a speech about the meaning of the day was shared with the public, leaflets and stickers handed out. Stickers put on the bicycle, bags and shirts. Sign-up sheets were filled in by the cyclists who supported the event. The group formed 350 with their bicycles and themselves. And the first of the below photos was taken. The group cycled from Bostanlı Port, to Uckuyular Port. At the end of the tour, the founder of the Persembe Aksamı Bisikletcileri, Mr. Muhlis Dilmac shared the motto of the day; "Get off your cars, ride your bicycles!" and the target of the event; "We want our bicycle roads, so that we can help reaching the level of 350 ppm."
As "Persembe Aksami Bisikletcileri", we will continue to help our community take action on climate change. We add our voice to 350 movement. We believe that together we can get to 350 ppm.
Best regards,
Mr. Muhlis Dilmac

This is from inside the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC. I like this because it uses the "original intent" of a Founding Father to refute the idea that we should live in a nation with laws based on the Founding Fathers' "original intent." (I, too, can be a hypocrite I suppose...except that I cite Jefferson as my prerogative, not because I believe I'm compelled to do so.) I also like this because it suggests that changes to the Constitution should be borne from enlightenment, progress, new truths -- and not from the base, animal fear and single-minded insularity and intolerance that seems to drive most proposals I hear floated about for amending the Constitution.
With some serious cloud looming, it was time to pack up and leave the summit of Les Trois Mamelles mountain.
embracing the madness....there's a change for me! I took this after a blow out with my son (age 10), I mean I let him have it. Let it rip. After the initial guilt and shame that tried to take hold of me, I sat with my son and realized it actually felt better to remain unapolegetic and own and share some of the madness, the rage, that shadow that is also me.
the best thing about a picture is that it never changes.
even when the people in it do.
This is the re-edit. hope you like it.

Day 20 of 365 (Year Three)
As if anyone didn't know, but today Obama was sworn into office and is officially the President of the United States. He has given us hope and the promise of change. Change is coming for me too. . .

On Friday, May 4th, third graders in Harlem created dots illustrating
climate issues and solutions. At recess they connected their dots with
chalk on the sidewalk. The following day, May 5th, cyclists gathered from
all over New York City and rode together wearing the students' dots as they
followed a route connecting the dots between nonprofits, community groups,
and government agencies involved in the battle against climate change. The
dots will be returned to the students who made them along with a film of a
dance created by the cyclists for the students, to represent their journey,
connecting the dots.
