Benjamin Markarian who died on 29 September 1985 was an Armenian astrophysicist who gave his name to Markarian's Chain of galaxies in the Virgo Cluster after he discovered that this string of galaxies moves with a common motion. The Virgo Cluster is the nearest cluster of galaxies and contains over 2000 galaxies. It has a noticeable gravitational pull on the galaxies of our own Local Group of Galaxies which surround our Milky Way. The centre of the Virgo Cluster is located about 70 million light-years away toward the constellation of Virgo.
This image shows part of Markarian's Chain and is marked by the Messier galaxies M84 and M86 to the right and the interacting pair of galaxies NGC 4438 and NGC 4435, known as The Eyes or ARP 120, in the centre of the image. There are many small, faint galaxies in this image.
The image comprises 20 luminance and eight each of RGB subs, all of five minutes exposure.

Working in the shed, hung the galv metal chain in front of the open window which looks out across the lawn to the garden. All natural light and straight from the camera.

For 'Slider's Sunday'
Just messing as usual!
Made some fine chain this week and then dunked it into water to give it a clean - really to remove the dust!
Happened to see this and quite liked it - after I had fiddled just a bit.

The "Chain Bridge" crosses the Danube and links the towns of Buda and Pest. It is a formidable structure and I liked all of the lights attached to it. I decided to focus on those as opposed to the whole expanse of the bridge. www.bridgesofbudapest.com

Exam time, work, marathon preparation.... it is just a lot and the creativity for the photos and the activity on flickr leave much to be desired... in a few weeks this will surely be better again

Got up early to take this shot. I had already set my alarm a few days before but woke up to hear the sound of rain, so got back into bed.
But this morning seemed to be fine and as the Sun slowly came up, the light got better and better including the clouds.

Of all the things that can be collected on the street, pallets are, by far, the most valuable. Fairly plentiful in the neighborhood, and easily sold to one of the many pallet yards around. A small pallet will bring in $2, a large one in good shape as much as $5. So a decent find can go a long way.
When it comes to life on the street, there is SOME sense of friendship, of "we are all in this together", but it definitely takes a back seat to "every man for himself" and "survival of the fittest".
If you have something of value, you do what you need to to ensure that it stays "yours".
only 3% of the water on this planet is drinkable, and there are millions of people who don't have access to it...
That must be why we belly fat people like to shit in drinking water, drink from plastic bottles (3l to make one) and wash our cars so we can shine in other people's eyes...
