Men's Byzantine type chain - a very complex chain
The name of the chain comes from its location of origin and design, the Byzantine Empire.
Byzantium, known as the City of Gold, was the seat of one of the Western world's longest surviving and most influential empires. It is now known as Istanbul, a town steeped in riches.
The Byzantine gold chain is a chain of 4 in 1, which means that each connection passes through four others. It's a box chain variation where the direction of the link alternates.
The pattern was also called "Etruscan," "birdcage," "fool's dilemma," "idiot's trap," "idiot's delight," and "bird's nest."

Beautiful Lens, beautiful chain................
Surprisingly, St Louis is actually a fantastic city to photograph. Lots of great architecture and beautiful parks around that city. Here is a collection of photos I have been working on from my visit there a couple months ago.
This top photo is the Chain Of Rocks Bridge. There are several different bridges that were at one time, the official Rt 66 bridge. This is the most famous of them. It's no longer used as a bridge, but you can still walk on it.

A climbinhg, somewhat woody, perennial vine, stems attaining a length of 10 meters. Leaves are alternate, ovate to oblong-ovate, with cordate base, serrate margins, up to 14 cm long. Flowers are borne in racemes ath the upper axils of the terminal parts of the branches. Flowers are pale to deep pink, 2 cm long, with 5-parted and persistent perianth. Fruit is ovoid, about 1 cm long, broad at the base, narrowing towards the tip, loosely surrounded by the persistent lobes of the flower.
This chain is attached to the rocky ledge above (right) and linked to the boulder below (center). The chain is to give comfort to the folk down in the hollow. I think the theory is that the boulder will not break off from the knob and roll into downtown Pineville (far left, a third up the photo) without the chain first buying the town folk some time.
The Széchenyi Chain Bridge (Hungarian: Széchenyi lánchíd) is a suspension bridge that spans the River Danube between Buda and Pest, the western and eastern sides of Budapest, the capital of Hungary. At the time, its center span of 202 metres (663 ft) was one of the largest in the world.
