This currency was entered into circulation 1951-1954 and used in 18 countries on US Military bases. The color and design of this note is really cool and vibrant. I barely touched vibrance. Cropped to maintain Macro Monday size rules. HMM

I was packing all my stuff for the move and dug this out. It's my mum's leaving certificate for Communist Young Group for exceeding the age. Urh... right, but how communist does that look? Classic!
I've never wanted special recognition. Even in high school, I declined a nomination to National Honor Society.
But, the volunteer dinner, held at the zoo on Friday night, was different. A banquet hall filled with people who have made contributions, mostly quietly and behind the scenes, is about community, not self-promotion. Community is something I value.
The volunteer coordinator made this certificate on her computer. It says, "Camera Connoisseur." A token, reminding me that community is happening. I can get into that.

I reported my encounter with the banded Piping Plover (see below in comments) in Texas to the USGS. They told me it would be 2-4 weeks to hear back, but I just got the info back on this cute little plover. It was banded in 2012 in North Dakota so looks like it is about 4 years old.
Certificate of Excellence- World Book of Records, London given for performing Music and Dance by more than 200 artists together at International Day of Yoga 2025 in Bengaluru city.
I encountered a banded Caspian Tern at Coyote Point Park last week. It was distant and not a good photo but enough to get the band number to report to the USGS.
Just got the report back today and this bird is about 14 years old, banded on June 26, 2008 when it was too young to fly in Richmond, CA. As far as I could determine researching the longevity of Caspians is that the average is 12 years but the oldest living was 29.

Much to my surprise, I have discovered that once an item is discarded, I never regret or miss it. And it feels so good to have a completely decluttered area‼️🌹

"This Rover 100 Ascot - an evolution of the Metro - has a genuine 43,525 miles on its odometer, which can be confirmed by both the service and MoT history. Just one previous registered keeper is noted on the V5C, with a lady owner from 2005 onwards. However, the vehicle was taken off the road in December 2012 and has only just been revived, with fresh petrol and a new battery fitted. There is no current MoT however. The history folder contains the V5C, 2011 MoT certificate, and a print-out of the online MoT history from 2005 up to 2011. There's also the original book pack with owner's handbook, radio instructions and service book, featuring eight stamps up to 26,284 miles in November 2006. Although we have had the Rover running and driving it is now not running due to a suspected fuel pump failure. As such it will be sold as a non runner on a no reserve basis."
No reserve. Sold for £660 including premium.

34092 “City of Wells” heads out from Bolton Street Station, Bury on a service to Rawtenstall on Friday 21/4/2017
34092 was constructed at Brighton Works in 1949 and later that year it was named Wells which was changed to City of Wells in 1950. It was initially allocated to Stewarts Lane where it worked out of Victoria to the Kent coast.
After the electrification of the Kent lines the locomotive was moved to Salisbury in May 1961 from where it operated over the main line between Exeter and Waterloo. In its late service it was attached to 4,500 gallon tender rather than the initial 5,500 gallon tender which it was originally fitted with. The replacement tender had previously been attached to 34051 Winston Churchill.
In November 1964 it was withdrawn from service and sent to Woodham Brothers at Barry for scrap where it arrived in March 1965. It remained there until October 1971 when a group from the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway (KWVR) bought it. It was moved by road to Ingrow. Following restoration work it entered service on the KWVR in 1979.
In service it ran on the main line as well as being a regular performer on the KWVR.
Because of the problems with insufficient lifting of the exhaust smoke by this class of locomotive British Railways had fitted 34064 Fighter Command with a Giesl ejector chimney in 1962 on the grounds that a desired spark arrestor would suffocate an ordinary blastpipe. The ejector improved smoke deflection and fuel consumption, allowing it to steam well with low-grade coal. In 1986 the owners of City of Wells had a similar fitment made which resulted in the locomotive having improved fuel economy, better lifting of the exhaust and more power output.
In 1989 City of Wells was taken out of service for overhaul following its boiler certificate expiring which took 25 years to complete to enable it to steam again in 2014.
34092 is owned by Graham Bentley and Richard Greenwood.
In May 2015 the locomotive was being transported by road from the KWVR to the Gloucester Warwickshire Railway when the low-loader was stopped at junction 30 on the M62 when a weighbridge check identified that the vehicle was over the permitted axle-loading. This was because 34092 had not been emptied of water before the journey – in fact it was full and the total weight was 86 tons whilst the maximum permitted load was 72 tons. After emptying the boiler 34092 continued to the Gloucester Warwickshire Railway.
This incident resulted in Bradford Metropolitan District Council imposing a ban on abnormal loads ( vehicles over 44 tons) using a bridge just outside Ingrow West station. As this bridge would be used by any locomotive moved to or from the KWVR, as Ingrow West is where they are loaded or unloaded, it effectively means that 34092 cannot be returned to the railway by road.
Due to the ban on returning the locomotive by road to Haworth 34092 it remained at the East Lancs Railway.
In 2017 agreement was reached between the owners and the East Lancashire Railway for the railway to buy the locomotive by the end of 2018 if the necessary cash is raised.
