It's Official!
I have received all my membership items as an official member of D23!
I got my membership card, official certificate, welcome letters, collector's magazine, and special gift from the Walt Disney Archives.
This is such a cool certificate - I just love how Gurgi gets to hold the banner. But I would have thought at least one Wonderland character would have made the cut.
So, Are You 23?

The National Registration Act 1915 provided a register of all people between the ages of 15 and 65, who were not members of the Armed Forces.
The information supplied under the Act provided manpower statistics and also enabled the military authorities to discriminate between people who should be called up for military service and those who should in the national interest be retained in civil employment.

Only failed an a CV boot and a tyre.
I knew about the boot. The tyre was probably legal, but it wouldn't have been for much longer.
No nasty surprises, and very little cost.
This is the longest I've owned any car; it's about to enter it's 6th year with me.I've driven it 68,000 miles.I like it very much.
Hand drawn by the handsome, charming, and talented BM2 Burks. The photo does not do justice to the original. Commissioned in honor of my late grandfather, Lieutenant Commander Edwin Thomas Forhan. The U.S.S. Wasp CV-18 is featured in the small "window" at the center bottom of the photo. Pretty cool.

On 30 March, 1926, my grandfather, Hagop Nalbandian, became a U.S. citizen. The only restriction on his citizenship was that he could not run for president. Otherwise he was as much an American as the president (at the time. Calvin Coolidge).
Only a few years prior, in 1923 the U.S. government brought into question whether Armenians could be naturalized. The criteria at the time was "free, white and twenty-one" and there was doubt as to whether Armenians, who originated in Asia, could be considered white. This threatened the citizenship of Armenians who had already been naturalized. The government initiated the test case of United States v. Cartozian in a federal court in Oregon. Cartozian, who had the benefit of being represented by a top Portland law firm prevailed and the U.S. government declined to appeal.
