Lake still as glass, sky stitched with light. A quiet night that doesn’t ask for anything, except to be seen.
My "Celestial Slingshot" is one of those images that tests your patience and perseverance as a photographer. I had gone out on more than one occasion to attempt this image. Even had the name beforehand.
There are many factors that kept me from getting the image I was envisioning. From getting up at 2am to drive out in the Summer months, to fisherman photo bombing me with their way to early rising headlights. Last night I thought it would be another disaster, as an airplane flew over as I was setting up & left the biggest contrail I have ever seen... right in the middle of my comp. But I waited and it eventually floated out of my frame.
The build up was so long, that I am not even sure how I feel about this image... at any rate here is my Celestial Slingshot!

Baby blue sky recedes so deeply into dark blue it appears to be drawn into the infinity of the universe above. Brightly colored tree branches, filled with shimmering stars in the breeze, shine like galaxies against this amazing heavenly backdrop. Camera shutter snaps just as a cosmic wave of energy rolls past the trunk of the tree, carrying with it vibrant autumn leaves and green grass. The intoxicating crisp autumn air and intense colors have you lost in celestial dreams...

Another blue hour image whose color palette is astonishingly different than daylight. Quite shrubby ... this is an 11 frame focus stack done in Helicon Focus.
This is a narrowband SHO image of the Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888), an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus about 5000 light years from earth. The strong Oxygen III light helps the nebula stand out in the large nebulous region of gas and dust constituting a portion of the Northern Cross.
Slightly above and to the right of the Crescent Nebula in this image is the interesting Soap Bubble Nebula, a small, recently discovered planetary nebula. It looks like a semi-transparent blue bubble. Discovered by an amateur astronomer in 2008, it has been catalogued as PN G75.5+1.7.
This SHO image uses SII, Ha, and OIII narrowband filters. Each filter was captured for a duration of 120 minutes using a Williams Optics Zenithstar 73 telescope and an ASI294MM Pro camera, resulting in a total of 6 hours of imaging. The images were then processed using Pixinsight and Photoshop. The image was captured from Rockwood, Texas under Bortle 1 skies.

Mostly I'm a coffee lover but I've had periods where I've enjoyed tea too and I've got these cool old tea boxes prove it. I think they might almost be vintage. My son always likes checking the expiration dates on stuff in our pantry when he visits since some things stay in there for quite a while lol. These actually expired in 2008 but they still smell really good and I love the artwork on them.

I love underwater dwellers. They look so alien and inspire my imagination. Life and it's forms vary so much depending on the environment. Makes me wonder what life on another planet could look like...

This was a secondary camera, setup primarily to capture meteors etc before composing my main image. I just left the camera clicking away, but I was quite surprised how well it came out. Also, the dreaded dew did not make an appearence. I did manage to capture a tumbling satellite (lower right of centre) and a couple of geostationarys, probably explained by the white dots. This is about 90 minutes long. 90 x 60 seconds Nikon D7000 & 10mm.
Not sure, celestial or chormatic, this by the Castle..few clicks and startd bubbling, great to witness.
