Small crescent moonrise with the Milky Way and the glow of the sun. I think the streak in the upper right is the Midori II satellite.
Overwhelming feeling of awe and humbleness brought tears to my eyes and had to stop shooting for a while.
I thought I heard the crunch of footsteps on the cinder behind me but it must have been my imagination. When I turned to look no one was there.
A quiet hush persisted on this frigid, overcast winter evening. The howling wind seemed to pause in anticipation as I peered up at the sky. My first impression was that a piercing, haunting eye stared down at me — its veins bulglng across its iris. While the visual left me with an eerie feeling it was surprisingly compelling as the branches framed the night’s full moon.

When the Sun goes down Monday evening, step outside to watch the best sky show of the year. Jupiter, Venus and Moon - three of the brightest objects up there at night - will be closest to each other then.
Jupiter and Venus have been rapidly coming towards each other for the last few days, a phenomenon that will not be visible against till 2012. And soon they will have the Moon for company.
The celestial triangle will be visible from all parts of the world, even from lightly polluted cities.

Baby blue sky recedes so deeply into dark blue it appears to be drawn into the infinity of the universe above. Brightly colored tree branches, filled with shimmering stars in the breeze, shine like galaxies against this amazing heavenly backdrop. Camera shutter snaps just as a cosmic wave of energy rolls past the trunk of the tree, carrying with it vibrant autumn leaves and green grass. The intoxicating crisp autumn air and intense colors have you lost in celestial dreams...

Celestial objects have their inherent powers which when attached to faith take form of festivals and rituals. These festivals and rituals are not just beliefs but they do have a scientific linkage to the celestial bodies. The idea is not be a mere believer and a blind follower of rituals but a seeker of knowledge and power. (The moon of âSharad Poornimaâ shining bright while playing hide and seek with the dense clouds).

This is a narrowband SHO image of the Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888), an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus about 5000 light years from earth. The strong Oxygen III light helps the nebula stand out in the large nebulous region of gas and dust constituting a portion of the Northern Cross.
Slightly above and to the right of the Crescent Nebula in this image is the interesting Soap Bubble Nebula, a small, recently discovered planetary nebula. It looks like a semi-transparent blue bubble. Discovered by an amateur astronomer in 2008, it has been catalogued as PN G75.5+1.7.
This SHO image uses SII, Ha, and OIII narrowband filters. Each filter was captured for a duration of 120 minutes using a Williams Optics Zenithstar 73 telescope and an ASI294MM Pro camera, resulting in a total of 6 hours of imaging. The images were then processed using Pixinsight and Photoshop. The image was captured from Rockwood, Texas under Bortle 1 skies.
