Started preparations to make bread and found this universe as I added oil to the yeast and water.

Thomas Darlington demonstrating his hand-made sextant. (This is a montage of two images.) Darlington presented a tutorial on the basics of celestial navigation. He said that with modern instruments (i.e., not the hand-made model), he can sometimes "nail" the latitude as accurately as a GPS, and is reliably within one minute (i.e., one nautical mile), weather conditions permitting.
